Fuel pump out in my 2003 olds alero

It is a known issue. Fuel pumps can work, but not provide enough pressure, so you need to test with a pressure gauge. There is also a Pressure Regulator. Have a read of this.

Try banging on your gas tank if it starts then you can almost be positive it's a fuel pump

Alot of times after an accident fuses and bulbs start to blow. Impact issues. Slim possibility of the fuel pump 'kill' switch which shuts electricity off to pump in the event of an accident.

Try replacing the air filter.

think you have knocked out the safety switch and it needs resetting to start vehicle,Dont know where this is on this vehicle though but it could be in the boot or under the bonnet but some vehicles have them behind the centre pillar cover or in the front footwell,it should be a smallish square thing with a red rubber cover ,just push the rubber cover down and it should click back on

find the buzzing noise...likely its the fuel pump relay.

GM relays don't reset. My guess would be the electric fuel is not operating, For openers , I would start with the FUSE for the fuel pump. In a fuse panel UNDER THE HOOD. Should be marked. Probably a 30-40A maxi fuse. CHECK WITH A 12 VOLT TEST LIGHT. If that area passes all the tests, I would check for power to the fuel pump ( with the ign key on. 12 volt test light will go ON then OFF ) Could be a faulty fuel pump, Hope this helps

there is no fuel pump cut off switch on this car, it is possible the fuel pump module was damaged from this accident, u will have to have the fuel pump circuit tested for faults before replacing the pump, don't guess, this is an expensive repair

relieve fuel pressure (pull fuel pump fuse run car until it quits,) siphon fuel from tank, drop tank, remove wires and hoses,fuel pump is in tank, to remove, use snap ring pliers to remove pump retaining ring, pull up on pump, be carefull not to damage screen or sending unit in tank when pulling out.
