My Spa has a Balboa 500z Top side and control panel. It was running at 104 degrees and then one day it just shut down. The Circ pump won't start up at all and when I first turn on the power, I hear the Top Side send the signal to the control panel ( a click) but nothing happens. There have been a few error messages show up ( ic...HL...FL...SN...F6). Our outside temps have been 12 degrees celcius, so I don't think freezing is an issue. Any suggestions?

Turn breaker power off. Verify now power to unit with volt meter. Most systems have in line over temp over current to protect circuit board and motor. Also the water level switch must be made to complete interlock condition. Check the heater coil for continuityas it may have opened. Check heater for continuity to each coil set. There is an interlock that is for diagnostics on start up that will prevent unit from starting. Look for any melted wires or components too. Always know and verify breaker settings. Verify your meter with known voltage reading first. Be safe my friend.

SOURCE: I have Jandy RS4 system with 4-button poolside

Pull the cover off the control panel. You will probably find a button which would be accessible from outside the panel with a paper clip or pencil but is unlabeled. On the board itself by the button, in small letters it should say "reset". Push the button and see what happens.

You are right about the ignitor. Depending on how old your heater is. The ignitor can become weak and flame rectification will be intermittent. You may have to replace the ignitor assembly or at lease check to see that it's not corroded enough to impede gas flow.

SOURCE: E04 message on MiniMax NT 400 DV..Help!!

Your EO4 message tells you you have a fan problem. So ether your fan is diying wich you would hear or you have a bad presure sensor in your exaust. A new fan is a little pricey but the sensor is reasonable for heater parts. I can't be sure but I believe it ether screws onto or into your exaust and it just plugs on to your control board. If your sensor is going bad their is a reason and this should be addressed. It should be in your by-pass or your gas pressure. But as far as a new heater, not untill you have water coming from the cabnit. It is sometimes easer to sell new than keep up with new, Good luck let me know how you do.

Spa was below temp, now it heats and won't shut off.

Is your spa overheating, heating up past 104 degrees?
If so, you have a contactor (or relay) stuck shut and the spa should go into OH at 108 degrees.
d
If your hot tub is only heating to 104 or what ever temp you have it set at and the motor runs 24 hours a day there are a couple of things you'll want to check.
First, make sure that you do not have the pump set to run 24 hours a day.
Second, you'll want to see if the pump icon is lit up on the control panel. You will want to check to see if the icon is on while the spa is supposed to be resting. During filter cycles the icon will be lit. If you are not in a filter cycle and the pump is on while the icon light is off, you have a stuck contactor (relay). The relays can be found online for less then a couple of dollars.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

No temperature display cant set temperature

Located behind the access panel there is a grey box that is the spa pack. Open that up with the 2 screws on the top of the pack. There is a small glass fuse on the circuit board. One of those fuses is most likely blown. If that is not the culprit you need a new topside control. More than likely it's the fuse.

Spa heateer run by Balboa 500Z control box. Standard mode will not shut off. Lowering temp to 88 still gets temp up to104.what is problem?

Sounds like the temp probe is not working or is disconnected. Temp going high, motor running means that it is calling for more heat which brings both the heater and the pump on until after set temp is reached. Once reached, heater will turn off and a few seconds later the pump will shut down.

Check connections for the temp probe. If connected make sure probe is where it should be. If it is, might try to replace it before considering the control board.

My balboa control is set at 104 degrees and continues to heat to 109 degrees and then shuts off. Is there a reset for the heater? Steve

YOU CAN RESET THE PANEL ON SOME HEATERS HOWEVER WHATS GOING ON IS ONE OF THE FOLLOWING TWO POSSIBLITIES:
TEMP SENSOR IS DEFECTIVE (VERY COMMON)
OR
TEMP SENSOR IS TOO FAR FROM HEATER DEPENDING ON YOUR SET UP IT COULD NOT BE BE SENDING IN-ACCURATE READINGS TO HEATER BECAUSE IT IS FATHER AWAY, THE FATHER AWAY THE COOLER IT BECOMES, SO THE HEATER KEEPS RUNNING UNTIL IT THINKS ITS REACH 140 WHEN REALLY ITS 109
THE WAY TO TELL THE DIFF IS SIMPLE
IF THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE INSTALL ITS OPTION 2
IF THIS THIS JUST STARTED ITS YOUR TEMP SENSOR THAT NEEDS REPLACEMENT
