Burning resistors rca tv model-HD52W140, resistors R14705,R14718,R14719-burns out-fed from flyback I have a problem with resistors r14705, r14718, and r14719 burning. I replaced the r14705 only to find out the other two started burning as soon as I turned the power on. It was stated in an earlier solution that the flyback was burned out. What exactly is the flyback and will replacing the other two resistors fix the problem. Do you have the specs on the r14718 and r14719 resistors?

Thats a 27K 1/2 watt Carbon Composition resistor 5% tolerance. You got deflection issues so a replacement resistor will most likely fail unless you discover whaich componenet on the deflection board caused the resistor to burn. The deflection boards have been discontinued for your model which has the ATC321 chassis. But you can get a remanufactured ATC321 deflection board from www.tvrepairworld.com

you can try just replacing the resistor, but I'm afraid you have other issues too because of this burnt component

RCA HD56W58 Rear Projection TV quit today. Resistor burnt up r14705. Power light goes on and high pitched noise but no picture or sound.

The number you gave for the resistor is incorrect. But I did find a R14705. This resistor is a 1/2W 27K ohm resistor. This part is also in the deflection circuit. This is not a good circuit to play in, and resistor do not burn up by them selfs. There is a problem somewere neir by. The part number for this resistor is 238958.

Your flyback has shorted out and thats whats burning the resistors cahances are the HOT is shorted as well. You can get some information at the following link for RCA problems. Just leave them an email with your model and what the problem is

From your description ..actually this is a common problem and no simpley replacing the resistor will not fix it. this chasis has a problem with what is called the high voltage splitter.. there was a number of these made with a defective splitter. RCA HAS ISSUED a service bulliteen for certain models and serial numbers. the board and the splitter is generally replaced. (I just worked on one of these 2 days ago and got and order in for the parts) ......just reread the tech bulliteen.. the spitter which develops a crack is rca part number 258512 the resistor or the part that burnt is resistor a common 27k 1/2 watt 10% carbon resistor

It sounds like you have a real bad problem, Do your Circuit Board looks repairable? Was the burn thru the board? Are you saying you need the schematic for this TV? For more info ctechnicians.com

Check first R14705 to see if burnt! If so then HV Trans is bad. Also if you need schematic try www.servicemanuals.net

yea i got my similar tv for 75 bucks blown hv splitter replace with bad resistor blew again 1 day later. i just replaced it tonight along with the flyback hopefully it works
