When you first connect the turntable, Windows XP (and Mac OSX) will often select the "USB Audio Codec" as the audio input and output for your entire system. Since your turntable does not have speakers, audio will not be heard from your programs until you tell Windows not to use the turntable as an output device. Here's how to change these settings so that your internal sound card will always be used for playback whether or not your ION TTUSB is connected via USB:
For Windows:
For Mac:
Now, all programs, including Audacity, will only use your internal sound card for audio output.

with everything plugged and running go to preferences in FILE and set Recording Device and channels to Audio device USB in Audio I/O.Tick software playthrough.
now set the microphone box to Stereo mix on the home screen(box is left of small scissors) hope this helps.nigel.
SOURCE: Need drivers for my ION Audio USB Turntable
Drivers are not necessary. Connect the TTUSB to a USB port on the computer (not on a hub or in the front panel) and the device will install as "USB Audio Device" From there, you can use Audacity (freeware from Sourceforge) or the Mixmeister EZ Vinyl Converter software they ship with the unit to record.
Here are direct links to the software and documentation:
EZ Vinyl Converter (PC)
EZ Vinyl Converter (Mac)
Audacity Software Guide
EZ Vinyl is pretty much get-up-and-go. The guide I have is basically "start it up, hit "record"
Note: when you hook up the TTUSB, it will become the default output device. You will need to go into the sound options in XP and Vista to change the default output device to your usual audio devices.

Maybe the output is not good enough for line in on laptop try mic in, then double click the sound icon down bottom right where time is, goto options, properties, then recording inside of recording make sure all boxes are ticked so you have all options like mic wave stereo mix line and so on, click ok, now make sure what ever you have the turn tables pluged into is selected as your recording device and not muted try again, once this is all ok ., it should work. hope this helps. also make sure your software you use to record is also set up same. take care
Testimonial: "Thanks that solved it!"

Does anyone know where you can dowbnload the latest version software? Mines quite old (1.somethingorother) an it doesn't appear to recognise the lastest version on itunes
"PHONO" is the only designated connection on a receiver that is literal and exclusive. Nothing but PHONO will work right on it and old-school turntables would require it to preamplify the tiny current produced by a Phono cartridge.

I got it working. Someone in another post had mentioned that a webcam driver might be interfering, so I disabled it and it works fine! Thanks!
Sorry, to clarify - I disabled the webcam in device manager
