Voicemail not picking up - NEC Lands Phones

Is this the Automated Attendant (AA) not picking up? If so, check your voicemail extensions (#505, Group 7). If this is for an extension, make sure a mailbox has been setup.

Turning off voicemail is usually done by the voicemail administrator, they can reset passwords and add or delete a mailbox on an extension. The number of rings before going to voicemail is usually system wide, and that program is changed by whoever programs your phone system.

The 6041 isn't an answering machine. It will ring until you pick up, an answering machine or voicemail system picks up, or the caller hangs up.

What make and model phone/voicemail?

Apparently you're subscribed to a voicemail system offered by your landline telephone company. Please contact them for instructions on acessing their voicemail system.

I have voicemail through my telephone company. Recently my SAMSUNG SGH-D980 phone system has been answering the calls for voicemail, instead of going to my phone company voicemail. I am being left messages that I cannot retrieve! I would like to "turn off" the voicemail function of my phone system. Usually technicians setup the pilot number to voicemails as extension 555 or 850. If you dial one of these extension and voicemail picks up press *. Your user ID will be your extension and your password should be your extension plus 997. Once in voicemail follow voice driven menu.

Elementary, just as you would in any other phone, just dial your number, and the phone will talk you through on setting up your voicemail.

set your answering machine to less rings than your voicemail.
