Need to convert pad to hook & loop sys. Is product made to fit this sander pad ?

Hello, I have an old 6" rotary sander. The disc was held on w/a screw in the middle. The pad was not adhesive. Can't find the sanding discs anymore. Does anyone or do they make a replacement disc pad that I can screw onto the sander, or use the present pad that will convert to a hook and loop system? I hope I've described the situation clearly to you. I believe the sander is a Black & Decker brand. Thanks very much. [email protected]

Thought about what my orbital sander is like, then went to a craft store and bought a large sheet/pad of velcro and cut it to fit the 6" rubber disc pad glued it to the pad and then bought hook and loop sanding discs. And you wondering why I didn't use my orbital sander?? Because I needed to get into tight spaces and the orbital sander is a bit too large for this, plus it's too heavy to use working overhead .

Thanks for your site and for asking if problem still exists. Appreciate it.

Sanding disk will not stick to the disk pad

IF you have a new disk and it will not stick, the velcro-like surface on the machine is worn. "Hook and Loop" is but another term for "Velcro" and the simplest solution is to purchase velcro tape from any fabric store and glue the correct side to the sander.

Sander disc no longer "sticks"

Most commercially made disc sanders have replacements pads whether they are hook and loop type or the rubber. If you go to the manufactures web sit and look up your sander, it will usually be listed somewhere. But you might have to call an authorized repair center to find the part number to order.

The sanding disc on my orbital sander keep flying off.

If you're using a hook and loop sanding pad (velcro), most likely the hooks have worn out and the pad needs to be replaced. They are available from this website, if you can't find them locally.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.

How to change sanding discs?

I believe these are the hook and loop variety, similar to velcro, just pull off the old and place new ones on your sander. If you do not have the hoop and loop, and they are sticky back, you have the wrong discs.

I can't find parts for a Craftsman 5" Orbital Palm Sander

a band aid fix, if the hook and loop is wore out, but the pad is ok, is to get a peel and stick hook and loop pad that you can stick on the pad

Hitachi SV13YB 5'' Single Speed Random Orbit Sander, Hook and Loop, 8 - Hole - pad that holds the sanding pads (hook and loop) is worn out, where can I buy a replacement?

You can go to Hitachipowertools.com and under products scroll down to find your sander. They also have a dealer locator that will find someone in your area. I looked at both the breakdown and manual for this tool and am concerned because it says pressure sensitive, but the literature states hook and loop, so you would have to specify the hook and loop. Let me know if you have any problems finding someone and I will try and help
