Are you picking a variety of dates to restore to or the same one each time?

If you go to an earlier system restore does it work okay?

Are you using windows? Have you seen if it affects Firefox or just Internet Explorer?

When you can't connect using Internet Explorer can you ping external sites?

Wpn824 v2 won't connect to internet via ethernet

It may be borked, especially if you've had a power surge or outage.
You may wish to call your internet service provider and request that they send a "Reset" signal to your Modem. It may even be offered through their automated menu before you reach a real person.
Failing that, try the following steps:
1. Unplug/power to ALL OF THE COMPONENTS - modem, router, and computer. Wait 20 seconds, then restore the power cord to the modem. Wait 1 minute until the modem fully boots and settles down. Next, restore the power cord to the router and wait at least 30 seconds for it to fully boot and settle down. Next, restore power to the computer and wait for it to fully boot up and settle down. Now, see if you have internet access. If not, go to Step 2.
2. Right-click on the network icon in the system tray and select "Troubleshoot problems". Wait while the Windows troubleshooter tries to identify and fix the problem. Now, see if you have internet. If not, go to Step 3.
3. Go to Control Panel/Device Manager. Under Network adapters, select the network adapter you're using and choose Uninstall. Click Yes/Apply/OK as appropriate. Restart the computer and wait while Windows re-installs the drivers for your adapter. Now, see if you have internet.
4. Try a different router.

Can't get wireless to work on laptop

You may use the System restore utility on windows by going to all programs then Accessories... Open system Tools and then System Restore. You may resotre your system to an earlier time, time when you are still able to connect to your router wirelessly.

No internet acces at all

Hi.
There are a couple of ways to troubleshoot this problem, i doubt that three months away will have caused this.
Ok, first off we'll check the modem, go to the modem and take the power lead from the back of that for 2 minutes, don't unplug it from the wall because there is still a trickle charge in the wire, the modem will not reset!!!
After 2 minutes is up plug the adapter back in and wait another 2 minutes for it to settle down, then try to reconnect to the net again.
If there is still no internet connection post back and we can move on to the network adapter.

Good luck

Internet Explorer is not conecting

You may have a modem or router problem, not problems in your computer. Try resetting your modem and router (if you have one). Turn off power, wait about a minute, then turn them back on. Sometimes that is all that is needed.

If you have a router connected to the modem, eliminate that by connecting your computer directly to the modem's network jack. If you can connect then, you know you need to replace the router.

Try another computer if you still can't connect when running directly to the modem. (You should be able to find someone with a laptop who can try for you.) Connection failure then can only mean the modem is bad. In many cases a bad modem will be replaced by your service provider.

It is also possible you managed to get a virus or worm into your computer at some point, and that has broken the networking function in Windows. You could try using System Restore to take the computer back to an earlier time when you were able to connect. If the trouble is due to malicious software, though, System Restore may not be available. Some bad software disables that so you can't use it.

Connected to wireless OK but no internet

You have to reset the modem by holding the reset key from the back side for 5 seconds, and re-configure it by going to 192.168.254.254 and re-configure it from Quick-Start by following all the instruction given by your Wireless Provider, or configure your own in case you are NOT using it for InterNet access
