Toilet tank to bowl small leak

f the toilet bowl overflows, use a plunger or auger to eliminate clogs. If the toilet does not flush, tighten or replace the defective handle , adjust or replace the lift chain , or replace the flush mechanism . Jiggling the handle forces the lift chain or rod to re-seat the flush mechanism, telling you that something is awry.

If the bowl drains sluggishly, remove the clog with a plunger or auger, or raise the water level in the tank .

If water runs continuously through the toilet, lower the water level in the tank , adjust or replace a lift chain or wire , repair or replace a worn flush valve , clean or replace the valve seat assembly .

If water appears under the tank, tighten the tank hold-down bolts , lower the water level in the tank, replace the float valve , replace a malfunctioning ball or tighten nuts on the water supply line, replace leaking supply line . As a last resort, re-seat the toilet .

If the seat is cracked or unsightly, replace it .

If the bowl or tank is cracked or otherwise unacceptable, replace the entire toilet .

With out seeing it, it is hard to actually know what the problem is, but it sounds like it is either where the water line enters the tank, or the gasket between the tank and the bowl. Either way there should not be any silicone. The water line flows into the fill and shut off valve. If it is leaking from there get a whole new valve for under $20.00. For the gasket between the tank and the bowl you have to remove the tank and replace the gasket.

What many people are unaware of is a small crack in the tank and rarely a small crack in the bowl. If the leak is not from one of the two things I mentioned above it has to be a crack and in that case a new toilet.

If you can not tell where the water is coming from it could be a crack or the wax ring under the toilet may need replaced. You might want to call a plumber and get a free estimate on what the problem is.

There should be a rubber / neoprene sealing washer that goes between the tank and the toilet bowl.
If you are reusing an old one it may have become too compressed. Buy a new one (they come in standard sizes) from a DIY store

Any hardware stores where plumbing supply is sold including lowes and home depot sell toilet seal kits including toilet to tank seals as well as toilet rebuild kits. Ask for a toilet to tank seal and washers for the bolts which might come with the large seal(check)
1. Close toilet water valve
2. Drain tank or sop with a towel and squeeze into tub until toilet is empty or bail water out with a cup.
3. Remove two tank bolts
4. clean area where old seals were
5. put tank seal on bowl and set tank lining it on top of seal.
6. Install tank bolts with new seals and tighten evenly
7. Don't over tighten or tank will crack. You probably can tighten until tank and toilet touch evenly on both sides.
8. Fill and check for leaks.

Leaks at the floor or the tank where it meets the base behind the seat?

Generally tight enough to sinch it so as not to leak.

If the whole unit moves on the floor the wax ring may need to be replaced. If the tank leaks be sure the bolts are tightened evenly with new gaskets sealing them inside the tank. Tighten the nuts evenly until it stops moving freely and the leak should stop.

The Gerber Ultra Flush Back Outlet toilet, that uses 1.1 Gallons of water to flush?

Just like any common toilet. Install the tank to the bowl of the toilet, set the toilet, install the flush mechanism in the tank, attach the supply line.

1.MAKE SURE you put the two plastic U-shaped spacers on the back of the bowl!
2.Install the round rubber gasket in-between the tank and the bowl.
3.Set the tank down on the bowl. Make sure you have the round gaskets that go up under the bolt heads, then insert the two bolts into the tank, and through the bowl. NOT installing these will cause a leak!

Tighten these bolts down, until the nuts are JUST touching the tank. (There is a flat washer that goes under each nut)
DO NOT tighten one bolt all the way, then tighten the other bolt!!
These bolts MUST be tightened evenly. Tighten one turn on one bolt, then go to the other bolt.
DO NOT overtighten, or you will break the bowl, and/or the tank!

Make sure your toilet flange on the sewer pipe is in good repair, and clean, from the old beeswax ring. It can be messy, even using gloves. Use a flat painters stick to help remove the old wax ring. Scrape off into a old can. The wax thin residue on the floor and flange is fine.
Set the new wax ring in place, remove the plastic liner that comes with the ring. DO NOT leave that thin plastic liner! It's just to install that wax ring!

Install the bolts that hold the bowl to the floor, or reuse the old bolts if they are in good repair.
Tighten EVENLY, and don't overtighten! You can crack the bowl.

Now install the toilet mechanism in the tank.

Check hose going to toilet maybe small leak-check that your toilet is tight to floor-also check tank make sure all fittings are tight,not much can go wrong pretty simple system!!Good Luck!!!

you need to tighten the nuts under the tank. the tank is not even.
The best method is hand tight the nuts to approximately same pressure on all 3 nuts. then use socket ratchet, one turn each,one at a time, till the tank stop rocking. stop right there. flush the toilet, check for leak. tighten as needed.
make sure all 3 nuts have even pressure.
