I also have the same problem with the LCD not being on when the camera is in operation.
Once the LCD is in its closed position, the view vinder activates, and all the appropiate touch screen buttons still function, but the LCD is not one.

I have exactly the same problem. LCD is black but otherwise the camera functions fine. The buttons on the LCD work (if only I could see them). Hi i had the same problem and i got it for the second time. can i please know how to remove the camera so i can replace the strip my self. And do u have a service manual. if so can i know where to get one for my self. thanks
the flex wire of the lcd monitor is already cut and already left is on
the touch screen that why is functioning ...go the sony service for the
replacing flex wire...or to the other service center for fixing the
flex wire....
CCD sensor seems faulty . Sony should repair free of charge but otherwise it is not an expensive repair to perform : requires 1 hour labout at most. ( the componenet itself is not expensive ).
the problem of your camera is the flexwire cable of the lcd monitor that why you don't see nothing in the panel,Also the message 'cover is not open' appears,while the cover is already opened the switch on cover have poor contact..it is not covered by sony service...it have to replace or repair that switch and flexwire cable....

Mine is the same problem as everyone esle. LCD blank - everything else is fine can still use the menu but cant see the icons.
