It says not supported format on the screen, but my computer doesn't recognize it's hooked up to the TV. I have a dell latitude e6520. It has worked on this TV before and now it has stopped. HDMI cord has only been hooked up to TV and laptop, nothing else. What can I do?
SOURCE: PS3 dont work
Go through setup on your PS3 with a normal AV cable and un-check the higher resolution boxes (1080p and down) one at a time, unless you know specifically what resolutions your television supports. After un-checking, plug in the HDMI cable and see if it fixes it. Basically, you need to set the PS3 to a supported format for your television.

I just figured it out last night - if you have used your playstation on an hd tv previously, it is set at the highest resolution possible - 1080p. You need to take it back to that tv, and go to display settings on your tv. If you select HDMI as they type of connection you'd like to make, it asks you what resolution your tv supports. In your tv instruction guide, it should give you this information. Check mark all of the resolutions your tv supports, making sure not to confuse 1080i and 1080p. After doing this you can take it back to your other television and it should work.

Try using another AV cable (like a normal composite cable) and try going through your PS3 setup. It may be that it is trying to go to 1080p or something because it is the HDMI, which wouldn't work on yours I bet. See if you can disable the higher resolutions and try the HDMI again to see if you can get the 720p to work. Hope this helps!

Ok, there are differing HDMI "Standards" not all TV's play/use all HDMI "Standards". Please have a look at this WiKi it explains far more than can be done here.

SOURCE: Hi! I have a problem with my Sylvania LC320SLX TV.
The problem may be with the Direct TV box, unless you can find another HDMI source to confirm that it is not the TV.
