Shutter-release button doesn't work

I didn't use the camera for a long period of time (maybe 6-7 month). After I turn on the camera I saw that everything is ok, but I can't take pictures with it. I can change the setings, navigate through the menus, when I press shutter-release button half-down, the focus works fine, but if I press the shutter-release full-down(to the bottom) to take the pictures nothing happens. I cannot capture the picture. I tried different workarounds but without success: - recharge and replace the battery - replace the memory card - reset camera to default setings - try to use self-timer (2sec or 10sec) - try to recording video, but no chance

The manual only can give two reasons why the camera would not take pictures.
One, there is no memory card placed.
Two, the memory card is full.
You are sure you have placed a working empty memory card.
If you did save all the pictures on the memory card to a computer, try formatting the card in the camera.
When you are pressing the shutter release button half, does the camera say it is focused correct? light bottom corner of the display.
Your camera has a setting to take pictures with a remote control. Did you put the camera in that setting? Read page 76 of the manual.

success

Testimonial: "Thanks for the suggestions, but no improve. The memory card should be excluded, I have 2 and I format the card with camera, with pc and are empty. When I press shutter release button half, the camera indicate that focus is correct. I tried also with the remote control, it's not the original but compatible with KM A200."

SOURCE: I'm having trouble getting the self timer to work

Have you actually set the camera to take self-timer pictures or are you just pressing the shutter half-way to focus and then all the way?

My 645 1000s shutter buttons wont pop back up.this is my 1st mamiya

You might want to check and make sure the battery is still good. If you purchased the camera used and didn't change the battery then this might be the case.

But in the mean time this is what you need to do:
1st-make sure that the shutter speed dial is set to any shutter speed other than the red circle w/red ring. If your camera is set to that it will drain your battery when not in use since it is designed to be an automatic setting. I set mine to 1/125th to do this push in the circular dial on the side and at the same time turn the knob.

2nd- locate the 2 levers on the opposite side of the shutter speed dial. Once you found them then position the back lever all the way forward towards the setting for "MULTI" and position the lever towards the front straight up.

3rd- then wind the film crank till it won't wind anymore and depress the shutter, if it is wound and the shutter release is still stuck then skip to the fourth step, if something happened and you heard a click then still proceed to the next step because no the shutter release will be temporarily stuck.

4th-Once both of these levers are in this position there should be a red button just behind the shutter release button on the top right side of the camera.... drum roll please...."Push the red button" what you should hear is a rather loud click, this click is the mirror releasing allowing you to: 1 wind the film crank and take another picture and 2 this also now allows you to see through the lens again (assuming that you have a lens on the camera).

In Conclusion: without a battery that is fully functional in the camera this is how the camera will operate once you get a battery for your camera then reposition the levers on the side of the camera opposite of what I suggested (this will be the normal operating mode for the camera with a battery) then when you wind the film crank and depress the shutter everything will function normally.

Every time I turn on the camera it sais Error 99 could anyone explain it to me .thanks chris

According to ehow:

Turn off your camera and remove the memory card, lens, battery and time/date secondary battery. The secondary battery is a small, round battery about the size of a dime found in the same compartment as the main battery. It is located in a vertical slot. Slide out the secondary battery by pressing your finger on the battery and pulling it toward you.
  • Place the body cap on your camera to keep dust out. Attach the front and back lens caps on your lens to prevent scratches and other damage.
  • Let the camera sit for 20 minutes. This will clear the camera's memory.
  • Place the date/time secondary battery and a fully charged primary battery in the camera and turn it on.
  • Press the shutter release button (the button you push to take a picture). If you are still receiving an Error 99, the problem is most likely caused by the camera body itself. The camera body must be serviced by a professional camera technician.
  • 6 Turn off the camera and insert the memory card. Turn the camera back on and press the shutter release button. If you are receiving an Error 99, the error is most likely caused by the memory card. Turn off your camera and insert a different memory card. Turn the camera back on and press the shutter release again.
  • Turn off the camera and reattach the lens. Turn on the camera and press the shutter release button. If you receive an Error 99, turn the camera off and remove the lens.
  • Turn the camera so that it is face down, and gently clean the lens contacts on the camera body with a number 2 pencil eraser or soft cloth. The lens contacts are the eight small, gold pieces on the bottom of the lens mount. Be careful not to let any of the eraser scraps fall into the camera body.
  • Turn the lens so that the side that attaches to the camera is upside down. Use the eraser or soft cloth to clean the lens contacts on the lens, being careful not to let any eraser scraps fall into the lens.
  • Reattach the lens to the camera. Turn on the camera and press the shutter release button. If you are receiving an Error 99, the error is most likely caused by the lens. Take the lens to a professional camera technician for repair.

    Shutter stopped working

If the metering lights go out when you press the shutter release fully down, then the camera needs the shutter capacitors replaced. If they stay on, it could be the release magnets on the shutter unit itself, or worse.

    LCD Display

I was cleaning my CCD and damaged the shutter. Same problem. Click to take a picture and the camera locks up and powers off. Turn the camera back on and the shutter releases and the camera resets and powers on. $281 service call later and Precision fixed it quickly. Replaced the shutter. They warranty their work for 6 months. Priced way too high, but nobody would touch it. As soon as I told other repair services how I messed it up, they turned me down. I had to much money invested in the camera to toss it in the closet.

My camera will turn on but the shutter won't open!

tiny bits of juice, remember? maybe (or I am sure) this tiny became corrosive inside the camera. (orange juice is the no.1 in my corrosive juice list, water is the least). You need to open and clean it, or a pro fix is necessary.

Shutter won't close on Nikon D70s

Format the card. I have same problem with mine ---requires a new shutter assembly.$40.00 item and they want $300.00 to fix it at Henry`s cameras. Ouch .Better to buy a new camera.

My camera wont click (take pictures)

try replacing the batteries with new ones, and if it persists you should contact casio customer support. hopefully you're still within the warranty period, because they will over charge even on minor repairs(they all do). there is a problem with the shutter mechanism, either electronic in nature, or mechanical. the click you're hoping to hear is the shutter release, and its not releasing. give them a call, get a repair estimate, and if its too high try finding a repair person with good hands that wants to have a go at it. nothing but good luck ;]

    IstD shutter release problem

I've had similar problems with my Pentax Super-A on an intermittent basis. If you haven't replaced the batteries I suggest you try that first. Not sure why, but that has sorted my problem out quite a few times (even when the existing batteries still have a fair amount of juice left in them).
