If battery is bad, computer will usually ask for time and date to be set every time you unplug the computer for a while. Most motherboard batteries are coin type CR2032 and are 3Volt lithium even available at your local Dollar Store. They can be tricky to remove and replace, so if you have no experience with this, it is best to get professional help or just look for some tips on-line. The instructions for your machine can be seen here:

eMachines W3107 User Guide Page 58

I suggest you follow the instructions carefully before proceeding. If you need more information about the instructions, you can download the whole manual.

I can't find the cmos on my asus m51v laptop.. I need to change it.. Help! It is not obvious.. looking for a watch type round battery but can't see it! Please HELP!

If the BIOS batteryis not behind one of the panels on the bottom of the laptop then most likely it is under the keyboard.
If the BIOS battery is not be a coin size battery then it will be a battery that is encased in heatshrink tubing with a lead that plugs into the motherboard.

Batteryis dead

Need more info - How old is battery? can you jump start? etc. If you can jump start it, take it to a local parts store like Autozone, Advance, etc and have them test your charging system and battery. Note if battery went dead, you're going to need your code to re-activate your factory radio.

My Dell 1525 has had ongoing problems in that it wont charge. Runs fine with the cable attached but no charging. Tried charger from another Dell with same problem. When looking in bios comes up with...

Try the battery from the other Dell system. If it charges fine, then its a problem with the battery, go for a replacement. Else, try updating the BIOS once from http://ftp.us.dell.com/bios/1525_A17.EXE. If it still doesn't charge the battery, then you may have to go for a motherboard replacement. If the system is under warranty then call Dell Tech Support @ 1-800-624-9896.

Good Luck!
