Gateway solo 9550 invalid configuration error when booting

I ran the smart battery utillity,when it finnished i started to recieve this error''invalid configuration'' also 1 beep . get option to press f1 to continue,or f2 enter set up.everything in set up seems to be fine, f1 just boots to operating system as normal,where everything seems to work fine.running xp sp3,256mb ram.thats about all i can think of to help.thank you,David

    all it says is:invalid system configuation/run configuration utillity.but i have no original gateway utilities,when i insalled xp sp3,an scrapped melinium edition.is there some oter utility i can run?

    i solved the problem myself. after all windows xp sp3 updates . forced to flash bios with support from GATEWAY.com.

There isn't one, either take the laptop apart and remove the CMOS battery for 10 seconds or download and burn hiren 15 to a CD and use one of the CMOS password wipers.

You can put the windows install disk in cd/rom and start the computer up from the disk.when asked to repair push R.. this will start in command prompt http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb491051.aspx link to microsoft help. when command prompt window is up type this .......CHKDSK C: /F /R..........press enter. I have a Gateway solo 9550 laptop. When I turn it on it says ERROR Invalid system configuration data- run configuration utility. What exactly is wrong? Windows boots up when I press f1. How do I stop this...
You usually gets this message when you leave the system unplugged for a long period of time. Whe the internal battery drained out the system loses the configuration data. Normally the internal battery will get recharged when you plug the power back. Just have to go into the BIOS and set the date back to the current date. In some case the internal battery needs to be replaced if no longer holds a charge.

I need the size or model number for a replacement charger for the gateway solo 9550.
Compare your laptop voltage & ampere requirements (written on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop) with the voltage & ampere ratings of the power adapter. Voltages should be the same, or the power adapter's voltage about up to 0.5 volts more than the laptop's voltage rating. Amperage of the power adapter should be at least equal to or greater than the laptop's rating. It should never be less than the laptop's rating, or else the power adapter will be providing insufficient amperes to charge the battery.

It'll not help you, due to symptoms of ailing hard drive.
Go to your BIOS and see if there any Hard Drive status check (like S.M.A.R.T.)
If not, get somewhere (DOS based) HDD test that will run from CD/USB without Windows running.

Quick question regarding the Gateway Solo 9550 laptop. I cannot connect to any wifi network. The laptop recognizes networks by name, but it does not connect. Any ideas?
Try clearing your winsock///Click start...Go to run..type cmd....Then type netsh winsock reset. Computer will say need to reboot but not nessasary

Solo 9550 gateway won't boot up windows
in safe mode.

Go Start>Run type 'msconfig'. select the box that sais - hide mocrosoft

Untick any boxes that arent microsoft products.
On the startup tab, unselect any boxes that are unknown manufacturers or manufacturers like HP/ Yahoo/ etc. Not Radeon or NVid though as they are your graphics

Gateway Solo 9550 will not power on at all.
first you would try the least expensive
make sure your ac adpater works
the plug could be bad on the end
next is the pin inside the dc jack where you plug it in, if the pin moves just a little , you may need a new dc jack sold on ebay cheap
make sure the battery is out when testing
