SOURCE: I refilled HP 88 cartridge but printer (Officejet

Under the cartridge is a black like pump - on a new cartridge this is hard and rests firmly on an area inside your printer. As you print, the pump becomes softer - this is how the printer determines it is empty. Once refilled, the pump does not get back to the original state. Open the bottom of the cartridge and put a firm solid piece of folded paper in there - make sure it is steady and re-close cartridge. It will now read as full but may also show full - judge ink levels by the quality of print. Also make sure chip has not expired.

I refilled HP 8500 cartridge but printer (Officejet Pro still thinks cartridge is empty. How do I reset ink level?

This model printer may only let you use genuine printer cartridges. If you try to refill these ink cartridges it will not work because the cartridges have an embedded chip in the cartridge that detects the empty cartridge even though it has been refilled.

Open ink access door.
1. Make sure the printer is turned on. Never turn off the printer when ink cartridges are missing.
2. Open the ink cartridge access door. [This is the panel that is to the left of the touchscreen. To open, put your fingers on the upper left hand side of the panel (by the logo: HP OfficeJet 6700 Premium), You should be able to gently pull the panel so that it opens out.]
NOTE: Wait until the print carriage stops moving before proceeding.
3. Press the front of the ink cartridge to release it, and then remove it from the slot.
4. Remove the new ink cartridge from its packaging.
5. Using the color-coded letters for help, slide the ink cartridge into the empty slot until it is securely installed in the slot.

If the printer thinks it has a Carriage jam, you might want to try removing the ink cartridges and then putting them back. It's possible they got bumped out of place during the paper jam. Hope you can figure it out!

Our HP Office Jet Pro 8500 printer has a message stating there is a paper jam when there is no paper jam. How can this be fixed?

Check the following Steps for fix Hp printer carriage Jam :

  • Open the print carriage access door. Check for any packing material that may be blocking the internal components. Check for an orange shipping lock that may still be in place on the left side. Pull the shipping lock out, if present, and discard.
  • Remove and reinstall the cartridges to make sure they are properly installed. Lift the front center of the print carriage access door to open it. Lift the door up until it locks into an open position. Press down on a print cartridge and allow it to spring back up. Lift the cartridge out of the printer. Do the same for the other cartridge. Slide the black cartridge into the slot on the left and the color cartridge into the slot on the right. Press down on each one to lock it into place. Lower the print carriage access door.
  • Check the print cartridges to make sure the protective tape has been removed from the ink nozzles. Remove the cartridges from the printer. Remove any tape or labels. Replace the cartridges into the printer.
  • Push in on the tab on the left side of the clean-out door on the back of the printer to open the door. Lift the door out of the printer. Check for any paper jams. Jammed paper can block the printer cartridge carriage from moving. Pull any jammed papaer out.

Carriage Jam.

Try to remove and reinstall the Ink cartridges. Be sure it's lock in place on the cartridge holder. If you still see the error, the printer could be faulty. Call HP if the printer is still under warranty to replace it.
