CQ-VX 100 will not read any Cd's

Make sure you're trying to read a good store bought music cd and not one some friend made for you. Some computers have problems reading some of the cd's made by someone.

The laser beam at the tracking head may have been disrupted. That means the CD's are just fine, only the read head will not function. Unfortunately, the cost to repair is more than an replacement. Get a cheap $20-30 portable CD/DVD player at Walmart.

Hmmmm.... Most new DVD drives have the problem.
Clean the cd with water and shampoo if it is having too much scratch. Try after drying. Is that helping?

NO? Is that CD working in other drives?

YES? Then you better replace the drive if it is under warranty.

This is due to the fact your dvd drive reads only orginal non pirated CD/DVD or CD/DVD of high quality with less number of scratches

this means that it cant read the cd rom , because of the following conditions the cd rom is scratched or dirty or that the lens on the player is dirty and is in need of cleaning or that the player has failed all together
ok so try to clean the player with compressed air and a cd cleaner with some cleaner on it first than make sure that the cd rom is cleaned and not scratched and if still nothing is working you might want to consider a new player ok? Hope that this is very helpfull

That is a faulty lens. The lens reads DVD and CD on different laser beam frequencies. To read the TOC initial track the lens must focus on the laser beam reflected by the disk. If the lens is opaque, scratched or dirty, sometimes it can focus on DVD but not on CDs or the opposite.
Try using a cleaner disk, if that does not work buy a replacement drive. Today you can get a dual layer DVD RW for less than $30.

If you receive an error reading or the cd ejects automatically briefly after being inserted, the headunit needs to be repaired or replaced

It has cd transport mechanism problems. If it cost less than $300, junk it because ot fix that will cost about $125. I fix them for $100 shipping included. Goodluck.

maybe you need to change the optical eye now.
but first try to adjust the variable resistor/trimpot resistor.
try this options to your player.

if using a cd/vcd/dvd products, we only should play a cd/vcd/dvd dics without a bad scratches. the scratches are making the optical eye worn-out easily.
