Format changes When I copy and paste text from one document to another, the letter case changes from lowercase to uppercase. Why does this happen and how do I prevent it?

Uppercase or capital letters are the letters A-Z, as opposed to lowercase or small letters a-z.

Uppercase letters, also called capital letters, are the letters 'A' through 'Z', as distinguished from lowercase or small letters, 'a' through 'z'.

Upper-case letters are the letters A-Z (also called capital or big letters). Lowercase letters are the letters a-z (also called small letters).

Try following :-

1. Select the text that you want to change the case of.
2. On the Home tab, in the Font group, click Change Case (as shown in the diagram below), and then click the capitalization option that you want.

• To capitalize the first letter of a sentence and leave all other letters as lowercase, click Sentence case.
• To exclude capital letters from your text, click lowercase.
• To capitalize all of the letters, click UPPERCASE.
• To capitalize the first letter of each word and leave the other letters lowercase, click Capitalize Each Word.
• To shift between two case views (for example, to shift between Capitalize Each Word and the opposite, cAPITALIZEeACHwORD), click tOGGLE cASE.
• To apply the small capital (Small Caps) letter formatting to your text, see the note and diagram below.

Every so often you may find you need to type a character on your computer that is either foreign or just not available on a standard keyboard.
The German umlaut is once such symbol.
Used in the German language to indicate a change in sound, the umlaut can sometimes be found in names and words we use in the United States as well.
The literary Bronte sisters, for example, use an umlaut over the E in their last name.
Umlaut's can be found over the vowels A, E, I, O, U and Y in both lowercase and uppercase forms

Hold down the alt key on your PC.
The next step depends on the vowel and case you want for your umlaut.
If you want a lowercase A with an umlaut, type the numbers 0228 on the keypad while holding down the alt key.
If you want an uppercase A with an umlaut, hold down the alt key and type 0196.
Hold down the alt key and type 0235 for a lowercase E with an umlaut.
Hold down alt and type 0203 for an uppercase E with an umlaut.


Hold down the alt key and type 0239 for a lowercase I with an umlaut. Hold down alt and type 0207 for an uppercase I with an umlaut.


Hold down the alt key and type 0246 for a lowercase O with an umlaut.
Hold down alt and type 0214 for an uppercase O with an umlaut.


Hold down the alt key and type 0252 for a lowercase U with an umlaut.
Hold down alt and type 0220 for an uppercase U with an umlaut.


Hold down the alt key and type 0255 for a lowercase Y with an umlaut.
Hold down alt and type 0159 for an uppercase Y with an umlaut.

Typing an Umlaut on a Mac


Hold down the option key on a Mac computer and press the letter u.
Then release both keys and type the letter for which you want the umlaut.
For example, if you want a lowercase A with an umlaut, you would hold down option and u, release, and then type the letter a.
If you want an uppercase A, you would hold down option and the u key, release and then type the letter A.


Hold down option and u, release, and then type the letter e for an umlaut over a lowercase E.
If you want an uppercase E, you would hold down option and the u key, release and then type the letter E.


Hold down option and u, release, and then type the letter i for an umlaut over a lowercase I.
If you want an uppercase I, you would hold down option and the u key, release and then type the letter I.


Hold down option and u, release, and then type the letter o for an umlaut over a lowercase O.
If you want an uppercase O, you would hold down option and the u key, release and then type the letter O.


Hold down option and u, release, and then type the letter u for an umlaut over a lowercase U.
If you want an uppercase U, you would hold down option and the u key, release and then type the letter U. And for an umlaut over an uppercase Y, hold down option and u, release, and then type the letter Y.
For a lowercase Y, hold down option and u, release, and then type the letter y.

mine was like this... press the menu key > options > advanced options > host routing table > press menu key > register now > then u should get a text saying it is register then your GPRS should change from lowercase to uppercase. hope this helps

What I am typing now is 'lowercase' letters. WHAT I AM TYPING NOW IS 'UPPERCASE' LETTERS. Use either the 'shift' or 'caps lock' keys on your computer keyboard to change between the two.

click on Start > Control Panel, and choose Regional and Language Options.

Click the Customize button underneath the Standards and formats section.

Click on the Time tab and change the time format to H:mm:ss (note the uppercase H) and press OK

Below that button, you’ll also see an example of how each setting is currently configured for Number, Currency, Time, Short Date, and Long Date.

Type uppercase H or HH to Display time in a 24-hour format

Type lowercase h or hh to Display time in a 12-hour format

Type two characters, HH or hh to Display leading zeros in single-digit hours

Type a single uppercase H, or lowercase letter, such as h, m, or s to suppress the display of leading zeros in single-digit hours, minutes, or seconds

Type lowercase t to display a single letter to indicate AM or PM

Type lowercase tt to display two letters to indicate AM or PM

Type single quotation marks (’) around text to display text

When in text mode, press 1 (one) then press 0 (zero). That works on my Motorola Tracfone.

Caps lock is that key on the left side of your keyboard. When pressed, it makes all letters that are typed in into uppercase letters. For example; without caps lock pressed: "pressure". With caps lock pressed: "PRESSURE". If it mentions something about passwords being "case sensitive," this means that an uppercase letter A (A) is recognized differently than a lowercase letter A (a). Since you can't see your password being typed, it is important to make sure caps lock is not pressed. If this becomes too complicated, open up MS Word, notepad, or wordpad and type your password there so you can see it, then copy and paste the password into the password space on facebook.
