The printer do not recognize the new replacement cartrige

I have this printer for 1 1/2 year, just out of waranty. I try to change a empty black cartrige and the printer is display the message: ink cartrige cannot be recognizeed. It is new cartrige. Epson tehnical is worthless: they say use new cartrige,I am, The printer do not go in to the serap mod to prime the head, epson say: use a full cartrige like a broken record. If something is broke and I have to go to repair shoop is Ok, But I do not know that. Any advice???? Dan Same prob here, almost exactly 1 1/2 years too. The printer was printing fine, some colors were getting low but not to the point of replacement yet. Then went to print and powered up the printer and said "Ink Cartridges Unrecognizable." So we figured that they may have been old... Spent close to $100 on epson oem ink cartridges and still unrecognizable. This seems like a thing engineered into the machine so you have to buy a new printer every couple of years...i have come across so many of the same issues online without any answers.

I have many epson printer, some more than 5 years old. It's ok. some have printed more than 50.000pages, it's ok.
If Ink cartridge Unrecognizable, there are two posibilities : Chip Error at ink tank, or printer error. For chip error, try to plug the ink tank to another printer (same type). If the ink tank recognized by other printer, so the problem is printer.
So ;
1. Check chip conector at head carriage.
2. Check the wiring of the head, and chip.
If two point above is ok, the last action is check the power supply and board. It may be epprom is damage.

Black Cartrige Missing

Did you use a brandname ink cartridge - or is it a knock-off brand? If it is a brand name - then the cartridge is most likely defective. If it is a knock-off brand - some printers do not recognize the electronic in the cartridge and therefore don't see it as one being installed.

You should maybe replace the color cartrige even if it`s empty just so the printer recognize that it have both slots taken. Then try to print out in black/white.

Hp 2605dn Black cartridge is printing 1/8" LEFT of other colors.

That problem is frequently on HP 2600 series.
You must try to change all remanufactured toner cartridges with HP OEM with no exception, the best alignment it is when you change the black cartridge and the printer make a cleaning page process. Cartridge HP OEM should be almoust empty. It Is not necesarry to be a new one. After the alignment process, you can put the remanufacturated cartridges back on.
This was work for me. 100%

Printing with only the Black ink cartrige.

Yes. The printer won't operate without both cartridges installed, even if one is empty.

Ink cartriges not being recognized by printer

It is not uncommon for an Epson printer to fail to recognise Epson cartridges. It is either due to failing to go through the proper cartridge replacement cycle properly, or more seriously, due to a communication problem between the cartridge and the main board. To fix the first, simply go through the cartridge replacement cycle again (see your manual how to do this before the cartridges are empty). Simply take your new cartridges out when told to, and put them back in again when told to insert the "new" cartridges. If it's the second problem you need specialist help, or simply sell your printer on e-bay for what you can get.

Does not recognize black cartridge

Well cleaning with isopro was a bad idea on a printer head as alcahol eats the protective coating and spring allinment maybe a problem but if you left it for more than a couple of days with a empty cartrige it has probably clogged the print head and once clogged they are nearly impossible to unclog. Ink has a property in it that makes it go hard very fast when exposed to air and when empty they get clogged very easily. Once clogged your best bet is to get a new print head but most print heads cost more than a new printer. As I've found out the hard way sorry. You can try to clean with turps on a earbud but this is not a reliable way to do it as it can eat the coating on the print head that connects to the printer to tell printer there is a cartridge in the printer to.

Printer will not print black.

Try removing the magenta completely and shut the lid then open again then insert the new magenta and see if the ink device level on the PC shows full. Sounds like the system needs resetting. Alternatively change the magenta and power on and off the printer and see if this resets it.
