Normally my machine works great; I've never had problems with the scanner. Today I tried scanning on the glass and through the document handler. When it starts, everything seems fine and sounds normal.
Then there's a long pause (way longer than usual) while a pop-up window shows, "Processing calibration data from a scanner. Do not open cover." I see that normally, but not for such a long time.
The next thing I get is the following error ScanMP pop up:
Cannot scan for these reasons:
- The original may not be set correctly
- The protective sheet may be put in place
- The lamp may not be warmed up
(it needs a few minutes for adjusting lamp on low temperature.)
Scanner driver will be closed.

Try and re-install the scanner, check the settings of the scanner software you are using and change the settings to scan picture or scan in colour. Thanks

The common solution on this sight to this problem on any copier seemed to be simply clean the glass. I first cleaned the glass on the bed...no help. Then I lifted the feeder and discovered a portion of the glass under that as well. Once it was cleaned the lines disappeared!
I saved $$ on a useless service call for a simple, easy to fix problem thanks to this site!
Try scanning from the Kodak AiO Home Center software. If that fails, you should get better feedback. Unfortunately, I have run into this when my ink is low. While it should not matter, is does. Check to see if you need to replace a cartridge. Good Luck. DigiChick.
There is a spot on the thin strip of glass that sits next to the large scanner glass. Because you are moving the paper when using the feeder, a spot appears as a line. Shining a flashlight on the glass can help you locate it. You can scrape it off with a finger nail or clean it with a damp cloth.
If you are using the document feeder, chances are something has gotten on the glass recently. Try cleaning the area of the scanner's glass that is to the left (underneath the document feeder) of the main glass.
Look at your user's guide on Pg 14,
here is a online link for it:

"Continuous Razzberry Tone with all LEDs off:
If, upon power, the scanner emits a continuous razzberry tone, then the scanner has an experienced an electronic failure. Return the unit for repair to an authorized service
center."
Is the "Razzberry Tone" the low buzzing you refer to(?)
Pg 24 has a "Trouble Shooting Guide"
take a look at it too.
