Press TOOLS (the spanner icon in the bottom right of the screen with WHERE TO and VIEW MAP)
Press SETTINGS (The spanner icon) or LOCALE (the blue icon) whichever your satnav has
Press LANGUAGE (the lips icon)
This takes you to a screen with 3 items on it; VOICE, TEXT LANGUAGE and KEYBOARD
Press VOICE and select the name of an English speaking person to change the voice instructions to English. Press TEXT LANGUAGE and change it to English or American English if you're in the USA
The TEXT LAGUAGE should be showing DEUTCH beside it (the German word for German)
The first thing you are going to need to do is to take a look at the manual for the phone in English (if you can't read German.)
Then, you'll need to view an owner's manual in German - to compare the directions. And, third, you'll probably need an online translator to translate German to English.
On the page that shows WHERE TO and VIEW MAP press TOOLS (the spanner symbol at the bottom right corner)
Press SETTINGS (The spanner symbol) or LOCALE (The blue symbol) on models that don't have a settings icon
Press LANGUAGE (the lips symbol)
There are 3 items on this screen; VOICE, TEXT LANGUAGE and KEYBOARD
To change the voice language to English press VOICE and select an English speaking voice
To change the text language press TEXT LANGUAGE and select English, or American English if you're in the USA
If the text language is already in German you probably won't know which is voice, text and keyboard. The German word for German is Deutch so when you see this beside one of the items you'll know this is the one to change the text language. This should solve your problem.
If you can find the menu, look for a setting labeled with something LIKE: "idioma" (if it's been changed to spanish), "idiome" or "langue" (if changed to french) or "sprache" or "zunge" (if it was changed to german). Select this section and look for "ingles", "anglais" or "englisch". (These all mean "English" in spanish, french, and german, respectively.)
Choose this and it should switch back to english.
I hope this helps!
Sincerely,
Der Strom
In the menu, you should find the settings for language.
Now, If you don't speak German, this can be a problem.
If you use your computer to translate, you can do it.
Go to http://babelfish.yahoo.com/ and select the languages as required (German to English). Enter the commands you see on the TomTom, and navigate that was until you see the language settings.
Therecan be 2-3 choices under languages. One being the voice that speaks to you, and the other, the text on screen you read. Go back in and make sure that both are set to english.
