Remedy 1 Check the M5 connector for proper connection and correct as necessary. 2 PS31 I/O check, sensor check. 3 CL7 operation check. 4 M5 operation check. 5 Change CL7. 6 Change M21. 7 Change PRCB.

look for a shear pin in one of the gears that has done it's job and has prevented mass destruction of a gear by shearing off. Find the gear that is attached to the shaft that drives the blade and see if you can turn I while holding onto the shaft

replace the transfer belt. For best print quality, make sure you replace the transfer belt when

Go to clear the message. The Supplies message appears on the second line of the

display to remind you that supplies need attention. You can open the Supplies Menu to see

80 Belt Exhausted

or 80 Belt Life Warning messages.

The printer continues to display the

Supplies message until you replace the transfer belt. To

replace the transfer belt, use the following steps or the instruction sheet supplied with the
transfer belt.

SC 403 is a Transfer belt position sensor error
The transfer belt position sensor does
not activate even if the transfer belt
contact clutch has been switched on
twice and rotated once. Pls check if
Main motor/drive, Transfer belt contact clutch if defective, Transfer belt position sensor
if defective. or your Photo sonductor drum/PCU carriage unit does not turn or stock up or not inserted properly.

Generic comment:

There should be a knob on the side away from where you put the belt on to adjust the front roller. When properly adjusted, it should run true.

On the other hand, yours may be an auto adjusting. If this is the case, yours is sticking and probably needs cleaned. (though freshly released from the reconditioning shop, id exect it to operate properly). Id suggest you visit the Makita web site and look for a operator manual. Another resource for you to check is www.archive.org

You may have some recourse to the manufacture if you JUST got and it is not right. Might be worth a e-mail to them too.

I set the crank pulley with the slot in the mag (shiny) section pointing up toward the camshaft (appeared to be top-dead-center looking thru SP hole). Set the deep hole in the cam pulley down to align with the crank slot. Slipped on the belt and surprise-surprise it fired right off. May need a bump one tooth either way, but too late to run it much tonight.

Most of the time when I find this happening on a printer, not just Ricoh's it turns out to be the PCU (photo conductor unit). The color PCU is one unit and the black is a seperate unit. Hope this helps.
