There should be a little gear beneath the carriage you can turn, which will lower it:

The beeping problem is that spell check is on try code 1.

Pedro;
I'm not sure what your question is but it sounds like you are in caps. Try code C.

SOURCE: The correction tape is not working properly. Wheelwriter 1000

If everything was working befor the ribbon & L/O change Either the L/o is not properly attached to the ribbon or the ribbon and or L/O are old. Make some corrections then remove and look at the L/o, if the letters are near the center of the L/O the problem is the ribbon or L/o is old, if the print is on the top of the tape it is not properly attached to the ribbon or not coming out or the cassette properly.
If you have a fresh set or another T/W that works swap the ribbons and look at how they are attached.

Make sure the platen (roller) is pushed down all the way. It must lock.
Also, see if the ribbon is feeding properly, characters should be evenly spaced on the ribbon. Other possible causes ..solenoid pad or selection plate, neither of which you can do yourself.

Please check the ink ribbon. There are two types of ribbons. The plastic one can be used once and if you try it the second time then there is no guarantee that all letters will appear fine and legible. (as may be happening in your case). The other is the cloth ribbon. This can be reused and it keeps fading as you keep repeating it. But in this case all letters are faded and nor selective.

Typewriter won't erase letters completely.

Correction tapes do have a shelf life and can dry out. You should try replacing the correction tape and see if it is better. If that does not fix it, does the tape lift up high enough to cover the entire letter? If not, you have a lifting problem and will need a tech to fix it.

My IBM Lexmark 1000 Wheelwriter auto corrects last letter typed after I hit the space bar.

Sounds like a keyboard problem, either it is failing or there was a spill on the keyboard. Contact George Beyers Co. For a rebuild or replacement. 800-392-8085
