Refridgerator beeps and upper section not working

I have a Samsung RB2055SL The fridge is beeping 10 times intermittently about every two minutes. The upper fridge section is not working properly. The tempature remains now at 66F. The lower freezer section is working fine with a tempature of 8F. I checked the seals of the doors and they in very good shape. The refridgerator always beeped when the door was left open too long. I do not have the manual. All arts of the appliance are internal. I have the same problem....the bottom freezer is fine but th fridge keeps beeping like the door is open and its up to 66 degrees...whats up with that please help someone?

You are the man! I spent a week asking everyone around me to please help me repair my refrigerator! Everyone took a stab at it but with no luck. Imagine a week of beep, beep, beep! I gave up bothering everyone, bought a new refrigerator, moved the beeping old one into the garage... got on the computer... accidentally found your solution.... and two minutes later the refrig was working perfect again ....no more beeping and the temperature is now spot on! I needed a second working frig anyway! Now I have two working refrigerators! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

First, the Samsung Refrigerator is the only fridge that has one compressor, but two different evaporators to operate the freezer and the refrigerator separately. Thus, you can have the bottom freezer working fine, while the fridge part will not.
The reason your fridge is not working is probably a faulty door switch in the refrigerator. The switch is malfunctioning, telling the computer that the door is open. Therefore you hear the door alarm go off in intervals, even though the door is actually closed. If the computer registers an open door, it will not pump cool air into the refrigerator, as that would be a waste of energy. All you need to do is replace the door switch. Until you get a new one, you can temporarily fix your fridge by simply removing the old switch altogether. You will not have any light in the fridge, however, it will cool again just fine until you are able to install the new switch (a simple plug-in contraption, by the way).
Hope this helps.

Thanks!!!! We have been listening to that buzzer for 3 days!!! and the repair man didn't know how to fix ***!! Now we are all happy!

I am very happy that my solution saved so many people a lot of money. For the people who have have trouble finding a replacement switch, they are actually quite easy to find online without having to resort to eBay. I have provided two links to websites that sell the part (it is part #DA34-00006C, btw.). Simply copy and paste, if you can't click on the links.
    http://www.samsungparts.com/Products/Par...
    http://www.partstore.com/Part/Samsung/Sa...

I find it easiest to carefully pry the old switch loose using a butterknife (a flathead screwdriver will do the trick as well), and then simply unplug it.

Okay, so that wasn't supposed to be all jumbled up like that ... Lets see.

Awesome! I just had the same problem 2 hours ago and was worried that our Easter was going to be ruined. I checked out the Samsung site to no avail. I am glad I come across this site as I found nothing on others. I used a butter knife and pulled the switch and presto!
    Thanks so much!!!

Thank you so much; have a full refrigerator of food that I thought was gonna go bad and would have to be thrown out as well as paying a repairman. I'm soooo happy I found your solution and feeling really good about myself being able to make this repair (as simple as it was, hahaha) but I would have never known what to do without your help. You saved a retired woman a bundle, wish I could do something nice for you! God bless you and keep the good advise coming.

Astralia441, a big THANK YOU from me. This was EXACTLY the quick fix I was looking for. I found the doorswitch panel on the lower right of the fridge door frame and popped it off with a flathead screwdriver. I then unplugged the switch and presto, it worked! No lights, but the temperature started to drop again. You saved me BIG money - no weekend service call to make!!

  • Avalon333 Jan 04, 2011

Thank you!!! Our refrigerator started beeping on Christmas day right after dinner with the above symptoms. We went into panic mode and started moving all the food out to the garage. I decided to look for help online and found this solution. It was a huge lifesaver and helped save Christmas day! I have been meaning to post a note in gratitude! My husband popped off the door switch panel as suggested and our refrigerator started cooling quickly. I used the power cool button on the front of the door to help speed up the process. Happy holidays!

I asked about the beep beep beep and the fact the upper refridgerator section not working. I even called Samsung. They could offer no ideas. Then, I followed the suggestions offered by several people, remove the door closed push buttons, That was the solution. After 24 hours of beeping every 2 minutes I was going insane. I have my senses back and saved on what would have been a costly service call. Thank you. mikecleaver

Just saved me over $1,000. Was ready to buy a new refrigerator/freezer but found this site and found the exact solution to my problem. Removed the door close sensor and the temp has been falling ever since, and no more beeping. I ordered the new part..again shown how-to with a link...part is only $8.00!! Will keep this site in my "favorites".

I had the same problem with my Samsung RB2155SH refrigerator. I tried a few things (turn on/off, putting tape on the switch, etc.. ) but it kept beeping 10 times every minute ! I removed the switch per your suggestions. Very easy to do with a flat knife. And the temperature of the fridge goes back down to the usual temp. All is well. Thank you !!!

Thanks for this! Totally worked! Anyone know where I can find a new door switch now that I have removed the faulty one? Sears does not have it for our model. Thank you!

You can order one for a fairly cheap price online and just install by plugging it in. Try these two websites:
    https://www.partstore.com/Part/Samsung/S...
    http://www.samsungparts.com/Products/Par...

    Good luck. :-)

Thank you so much for posting a solution. I removed the switch, and will order new one from EBay (they are hard to find). Happy Holidays!

Why is it beeping?

if temperature is rising, you will get a beep. you need to find why the temp rising. Clean condenser coils and make sure that condenser motor is running art full speed.

Intermittently starts beeping 3 times and some time later (hours to days) stops cooling. Works again, for a week or so, after unplugging for 10 minutes or so

Hi, your suggestion is good. Also consider an overbuild up of frost which the autodefrost can't cope with. I don't know what to suggest you do about it apart from minimising the moisture content of the food that you put into it.
Just seen your post regarding replacing the control unit yourself. I think that it's feasible if you have a reasonable amount of experience. However, the final decision is yours, I cannot suggest that this is something that you should do.

I have a samsung side by side fridge freezer model SRS539HW, the alarm keeps beeping every minute to say the doors are open however they are closed. If I manually pust the door closer button it will...

Solved beeping problem.........Samsung SRS539HW . Have one of these and it is 6 years old. I had to replace the bottom hinge on the fridge side(right). Easy job but now constant beeping as if door is open, and light is intermittent. Found that there is considerable wear on the cable through top hinge of door and one of the wires from a magnetic reed switch in door had broken. I discovered this by shorting the two fine wires (white and pink/white) going to internals of fridge. No more beeping due to door opening and light now working correctly. Of course I no longer get a beep for a valid door open to long but cheaper than getting a refridgerator expert in.
