Question about Whirlpool Cabrio WGD6400SW 7.0 Cu. Ft. Gas Dryer - White

1 Answer

Gas Dryer wont stay lit.

I have a Whirlpool Cabrio WGD6400SW0. The heat will only stay on for about 5 minutes when the dryer is cold. Then I cannot get the heat to come on at all until it is very cold again. It just makes a grinding noise like it is trying to light but then stops grinding and then no heat after that. Before this happened, the dryer was heating too hot and I had to dry on extra low on timed heat. I have taken the back off. The gas dryer is glowing orange at first and then igniting. I am not sure why the flame is going out after a couple of minutes. There is no kick plate in front, there is a peephole where you can see it igniting.

It may be your dryer vent piping. If the piping from the dryer to the outside of the house is clogged with lint (which happens periodically) the dryer cannot get rid of the heat generated by the gas burner. When the temperature reaches a certain level the high limit switch opens and shuts the burner off. The switch closes again after the dryer cools down. Check the lint filter and all the vent piping for any obstructions and clean out thoroughly. This should solve your problem. Hope this helps.

Dryer wont heat for more than 10 minutes when cold

did you clean the vent line?THAT COULD MAKE IT RUN HOT THE AIR CAN'T BLOW OUTSIDE,BUT WITH THE DRYER HAVING HEAT WHEN IT STARTS AND THEN AFTER LIKE 10 MINUTES NO HEAT IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE BAD GAS COILS,WHEN THE COILS ARE STARTING TO FAIL THEY WILL WORK FOR LIKE THE FIRST 10 TO 20 MINUTES AND WHEN THEY HEAT UP NO GAS,WHEN THE COOL THEY WILL WORK AGAIN,I WOULD CHANGE THE COILS AND CLEAN OUT THE DRYER AND VENT LINE,THIS SHOULD BE DONE ONCE A YEAR SO YOU DON'T HAVE A FIRE AND YOUR CLOTHES WILL DRY ON TIME,EVERYONE THINKS SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE DRYER AND ALL THAT HAPPENS IS THE VENT LINE AND THE DUCT WHERE THE LINT FILTER SLIDES INTO FILLS WITH LINT AND THE AIR CAN'T BLOW AROUND GOOD ANYMORE,ALSO WITH A SHOP VAC VAC UP THE LINT WHERE THE BURNER AND MOTOR IS AND THEN SET THE VAC UP TO BLOW AND BLOW THE MOTOR AND GAS BURNER OUT,DO THIS AND YOU'LL HARDLY HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE DRYER

Gas Dryer Heat wont stay on.

Must be something in the blower section. You need to get into the dryer and clean it up. Air restrictions cause overheat condition. When the temp gets so high the limits shut it down. Lots of videos on you tube that show how to get into. You can google gas dryer dan webster or roper dryer no heat dan webster and I have some videos posted how to get into these.

Whirlpool Cabrio dryer gas does not stay lit after a few minutes.

It sounds like your solenoid coil(s) might be no good. Easy fix and not very expensive.

Dryer wont stay hot. it gets cold after first load

If dryer lights for a few minutes and will not stay lit, I believe the solenoid coils will need to be replaced. Click on link below, enter your model number lgr5620kq1 in model search feature and go to the dryer page it shows a breakdown view of your dryer. Also go to common solutions and look for gas dryer problems. I will also be here to help you, Sea Breeze
