Try steaming less actual milk and allowing the froth and expansion to make up the volume you need for the size of the cup. This allows you to steam the milk longer achieving a hotter froth.
This is a common problem for the commercial espresso machines, Due to lack of cleaning of the steam wand after they finish frothing milk. The milk flows back to the boiler and the water gets contaminated with milk.
Does the steam smells like rotten milk? If the answer is yes, you have contaminated water and or lines. If not may be there is a lot of IRON in the water.
Run a descale cycle.
After you are done frothing milk, wipe the steam wand with a wet towel and open the steam valve for 2 seconds, close it and that's it.
This could be blocked. The best way to clear this is to switch off the machine and see if you can dismantle the frother arm. Sometimes the arm will come off by unscrewing. If it does, wash it in hot water and washing liquid. If it doesn't come off try putting the frother wand into a mug of cold water and allow it just to steam the water.
Frother wands don't just steam liquids - they **** up liquid which can block the vents and the actual steam hole which this machines' problem sounds like it does have.
please relay on your experience realizing that you now have new steam pipe(with different holes in the end of it and different pressure) you will need to get use to them and get maximum quality of that steam pipe. my advice:
every time hold your hand in the bottom of milk container, so that you will prevent overheating which often gives the result you mentioned.
The stainless steel cover has a very small hole near the top. The hole allows a venturi action - meaning air molecules are entrained with the steam flow to increase the affect. Milk will clog the hole, but warm water and a guitar string, cheese wire, even a staple - something thin - will work to clean it out.
After frothing either clean the entire stainless steel piece or at least occlude the end at the same time as shooting through some steam. I usually use a kitchen sponge with the abrasive pad attached. The pad helps insulate the heat and provides the necessary resistance to force any milk out the small hole.
Yes, I hate living with this also. In fact I am considering machining a different steam tube assembly.

Typically it give the ventilate because insufficient amount of water/steam is comming through.
A clog in one of the lines is usually the problem. This causes all kinds of headaches.
There is nothing you can do so I suggest you do a search for an Authorized Saeco reapir center and have them do a service on it.
