Korg mini kp only some effects working. Low sound output

Just bought new korg mini kaoss pad. Bought brand new monster cables for it and everything. Seem to have it hooked up right, but only some of the effects are working. Most of them are not. I also seem to be having a low sound output all together. Yes, my aux. in level is turned all the way up as well. What am I doing wrong please help. By the way I have a Rane ttm-56 mixer. Just received mine in the post yesterday, and it appears that the Korg KP Mini reduces the output volume when the signal is returned to the mixer. I'm extremely annoyed with this as it effectively makes this useless unless you plug a post effect amplifier into your setup. Even with this workaround solution, you're going to pick up a lot more noise as you are amplifying a low volume signal which will pick up more of the 'noise floor'. How can they release a product like this!?! BTW - I've tried hooking it up to the mains, and this make no difference to the post effect output levels. - j Wood

Are you using the direct setting or the snd setting? One will have a pad effect on the amount of signal aloud into the unit to prevent clipping. I think its the snd setting for hooking into a mixers fx loop. The manual is at www.korguksupport.co.uk/upload/miniKP_OM_EFG1.pdf if you need one. I also saw a user group on the net somewhere and I'll look for it again.

I have the same Kaoss Pad mini and have exactly the same problem. I have asked for a solution as well!

The only way I have been able to use live is to turn up master on mixer to compensate, but this is incredibly hard to do if you're not always going through the KP as you have to adjust master volume each time up or down.

I haven't heard any volume problems with the full size Kaoss Pads, think it might just be a KP mini problem.

I can't get any sound out of my Korg Mini Kaoss pad when running it into an amplifier. It works fine if I run it into my old cassette 4-track recorder, but I get nothing other wise. I've tried bunches of...

The Mini KP generates Stereo output and you would run it to either a stereo channel on your mixer before the amp or into two channels of your mixer board and PAN them to opposite sides.

If you try to connect this to a monaural amp, like a guitar amp) your cable will ground out the output of this box. The minimum would be to builld a special resistive mixer to combine the channels before they go to your amp HOWEVER you will lose much of the effects without having a stereo system.

I have a new kaoss kp and when I put headphones in there is no sound. I dont have a cable to plug it in to the computor. Is there something I have to do to the settings or is it simply not working? Cheers

The Mini KP is an effect processor primarily. Sound passes in and through either with or without processing and effecting. Due to this fact you must have an incoming signal to process, or you wont hear anything. However there are a few settings that act more like a synth and tone generator. To initiate an effect you must touch the pad and hold contact. There is a hold button on the lower left side facing down. If you hit this button while an effect is being created, then you can let go without the effect stopping. You can adjust the effect in real time as well. Out of the 99 presets if you have tried them all with absolutely no sound output, then the problem is physical and will need a repair man/woman.

I just got a kaoss pad and having need help connecting to a cdmp 6000 help please

You haven't got a send and return on your cdmp 6000. What I advice you to do is the following: connect the master out, the red/white cinch, to the input of the kaoss pad. Than connect the output of the kaoss pad to your speaker system or reciever. You can now control effects on the master single.

Hi. i cant get the sound to come through continuosly when using the kaoss pad, only when i put it on hold. is there a way round this?

You need to put the Mini Kaoss Pad in direct mode.
Hold down Memory A and press Memory B once, use the dial to select DIR instead of SND.
Hold down Memory A and press Memory B once again to return to normal play mode.

Low Volume using Kaoss Pad Mini while DJing

I'm having the problem too...I'm thinking that maybe getting the DC adapter MAY fix it though as stated in the Manual: "...The output level of the mini-KP will be smaller than its input level. This is because the attenuator circuit is connected at the input section, considering that the mini-KP is used on battery power." so maybe the dc connector will increase output volume?

Connecting the kaoss pad 3 to my built in turn table mixer

Try connecting the main output to the input of the Kaoss and the output of the Kaoss to your amp. You will get more signal.

Korg Kaoss Pad 3 1/4" mic input is shot, need repacement

If you can unsolder the jack, take it to any good electronics supplier and they should be able to sell you a replacement. The manufacturer is not as important as the pin configuration and the height it stands from the surface of the circuit board.

What do i need in a mixer? i want to connect my kaoss pad mini, and kaossilator, and obviously a couple of cdjs, and where do i connect them straight in the mixer or amp, im awaiting my purchase and just...

For dj use, industry standard would be something like a Pioneer DJM600 mixer. 4 channels w/ effects and a mic input. To use kaoss it's best to go into Send/Return input through the effects. By tapping on Send, all sound is sent out to the kaoss pad, and comes back into the mixer into the Return inputs. By doing this you can have the kaoss pad on sitting next to the mixer ready to apply effects all the time. Then connect the master outputs from mixer into your amp, or straight to powered speakers. Kaossilator is more of an instrument than effects unit, so plug in to channel 3 after your 2 cdjs in channel 1 and 2. You still have a spare channel left. I use 2 x 1200s and 2 x cdjs with kaoss pad through effects channel in this way. A 4 channel mixer is plenty.
