try this go to the start menu then to all programs from the list select default programs from this menu select change auto play settings in this selection go to one of the dvd options click on the arrow on the right to access the drop down menu and choose an option do this for all dvd options then it should use the program you selected from the dromp down menu to play the dvd
Here is a site that has a good manual for installing the Dvd Burner. It is very stright forward once you open up the case. Just make sure that you unplug the computers power cable, open up the case. Notice how the cables in the back of the cd rom are connected. Take the CD rom out and slide the new one in. The site listed below also has pictures to help you out.
is this new? but a dvd in and it be a drive d: or E: when you look at in "my computer" or "windows explorer" the drive icon should show the little game icon.. you also might try just to explore the drive and see if you see folders and things, a setup should appear or the "game".exe if you you cant see anything reboot and hit your set-up key, mine is f1 ...then look at the drives it finds.

Maybe it's time to replace but try this last thing before opening the trash can lid:-
Go to my computer>properties>hardware>device manager and look down the list for your cd/dvd drives and click the '+' sign then highlight your dvd drive and right click to delete.
Restart the pc and windows will find the drive again automatically and install the drivers.
