There is a small helix gear attached to the shaft of the main drive motor. It cracks or shreads on the inside. You will have to replace the main motor. Not real expensive or difficult to replace.

Does the machine sit there and run and run and run. The motor turns on and just chugs away or simply the ready light flashes? Let me know which symptom so I can send you some things to try.

XEROX WORKCENTER XD100 NOISE

Most likely the fuser gear is worn. The noise is prominant in the right side toward the back I am assuming.
You can replace the heat roll drive gear itself, but honestly I would recommend replacing the entire fuser assembly. It is probably very very tight and would wear another gear out quickly.
You want to get that replaced before the drive gear on the main motor assembly wears out. It would not rewuire replacing that entire main drive assembly, But it is a real difficult part to replace.
Go onto google and do a search for The Parts Drop. It will be the first item to come up. CLick it on and call and talk to Britt.
He will have what you need for a reasonable price.
if you go that route and need instructions to replace that part. let me know. Its not very difficult.

Xerox xd100 copier

Sounds like 2 different things going on.
The slow warm up is normally the toner cartridge is almost out of ink but not reporting it. It is trying to set up but there is not enough ink to do so.
The jams, if the machine is making it into the machine but not exiting, then you most likely have a broken gear on the end of the heat roller in the fuser

I have a XD100 Work Center with a L6 error code indication. After press "C" Clear (orange color button), followed by "Auto" (the most left small button) - exposure mode key; and "C" followed by "Auto" again, the copier starts to print and solved problem.
