Is it normal for a uniden Washington to hum when the 240v is pluged in but set is off

A linear transformer in any power supply will hum, even when not in use. Depends on the manufacturer of the power supply/transformer at the time.
Some are better than others. The mounting of the transformer can also make a difference, sometimes screwing the transformer down better or even moving the set can make it be quieter :-)

My transformer on my new polar express does not work what am i doing wrong

No power to the transformer or to the track?
If not to the track, make sure you have the correct wire connections made from the transformer to track.
If no power to the transformer from the wall plug,
sounds like the cord needs replacement.

How often should tracks be cleaned. Engine slows down after running for a while

It depends upon how much you run your trains. Run your finger or clean cloth on the rail. If you see a dark mark your tracks need cleaning. You can also run another set of wires from the transformer to the spot on the track furthest from the transformer. You can even run a third or fourth equally spaced apart if you have large loops and long and heavy trains.

How easy is it to replace an intermatic ML300RTW malibu tranformer?

Question is not 100% clear.
Add a comment any time, and that sends email, and I will respond with more information if needed.

1) Are you trying to repair a transformer?
I do not know of any repair for the transformer, or available parts sold to repair transformer, although the product does have a warranty, and Intermatic might have a repair protocol for the transformer.
http://www.intermatic.com/customer%20service.aspx

2) Are you replacing existing transformer with a new transformer?
The transformer plugs directly into outdoor outlet, and wires are connected to A and B terminals.
Open following link to read how to set up and use transformer in troubleshoot-format:

No humidity in the house

Hello, the first to confirm is if you are receiving 24 volts at the transformer, if you are then check for 24 volts going into the humidistat and out of the humidistat, if voltage is confirmed there then check if your solenoid is recieving 24 volts, if it is and the solenoid is not letting water into the humidifier than your solenoid is bad and must be replaced. If you do not have 24 volts at the transformer then turn off power to the transformer and set your meter to read continuity, you should have resistance if not the transformer is bad and must be replaced. If you have power to the humidifier and not humidifieing properly then you have to set the humidistat according to what the outdoor temp is, the outside temp determines what setting and % of humidity you should have in your home. Here is a what it should be
-20 set to 15%
-10 set to 20%
0 set to 25%
10 set to 30%
20 set to 35%
above 30 set to 40%

Ι've just joined 2 ovals 40x60 lionel fastrack, used some other items 2 Lionel 6-12018 FasTrack O-36 MANUAL SWITCH RH, 2 Lionel 6-12017 FasTrack O-36 Manual Switch LH, A few 6-12014...

It sounds as though you may have two defective transformers. Lionel has reported problems with some of their smaller transformers. I would have the transformers and the engines checked by a Lionel service station or contact their customer service department for help.

I have a sylvania 32In tv that uses the 3pc0xb001 transformer. When I replaced the transformer it to burnt out then I found a bad mov transistor and was wondering if this would take out the transformer.

normaly when is the compatible transformer, dont take out, but you must have changed to universal transformer, and use the wrong power settings, and burnout tv and transformer also.

I have a 300 watt Malibu transformer to run 4 step lights on a patio. the wires from the step lights go through conduit under patio and all come out under some steps at the house. So I have 4 sets of wires...

Take one cable to the x-former to the 4 sets, then Splice all the wires (5 in one nut and 5 in the other) together. Then connect the one set at the x-former. Don't worry too much about the 10 ft issue. It will work fine.
