I'm rehooking up a computer for a friend they moved from one place to another and when i hooked everything back up and try to turn it on the printer,monter,and cable modem all powered up but the tower to HP pavilion A430N would not power no light indicates power to it but below the power cord in back of tower is a green light that keeps flashing i kept hitting power button and no action in it at all the fans dont come on or nothing please help thanks im not sure if the product is correct they have A430N system DQ176A all i know
Regarding the blinking green light on power supply for hp a430n...I've had that happen as well when the computer is turned off for an extended period of time. It would not immediatly power up when plugged in to power. Hitting it and beating on the button didn't help either.
However, after calming down, I noticed that when I unplugged the computer that the light continues to blink, but gradually fades and goes out. So, I thought that since power supply holds a charge after being disconnected as can other components inside a computer that I would assume the converse: It needs to power up to "full charge" as well. In my case, I was right.
All I did was plug the computer in and leave it alone for about 20 to 30 minutes, go sit and cuss for a while. When I came back and checked it after that time, the front panel blue light was on and the green light on the power supply was glowing steady. The computer started right up! Thank goodness...stopped cussing.
If it hadn't, and I had tried all the resets listed above, I would have bought a new power supply too...but not this time!

I had the same problem would not power up and the flashing green light under the power supply. i just unplugged the supply from the board and reattached it all and it fired right up. But I noticed the cpu fan kicks in real fast every once in a while and then goes back to normal. So it is probably a failing power supply
Green blinking led light -- put in a new power supply and hp a430n is back running...using a cooler master 500w $60...I have added a 1GB memory module for $50 to the existing 512MB and that smooths out the hard drive use. also changed out the video card to a dual monitor unit. keep buying larger external drives to backup the 160GB....am i nickel and dime-ing myself?...unit is now 4yrs old.

My computer would not start after turning off to go on holiday.
Had a green flashing light on the power supply unit.
Just left it over night as suggested, with the power on, and the
next day the green light was on and the computer is workink ok?

The problem returned.
Decided to investigate. Removed power supply unit. Opened up PSU enclosure and inspected components. Found various electrolytic capacitors had failed, Indicated by their cases being swollen/belled out at the ends. Replaced powersupply unit problem solved.

I have a m7434n with the exact same problem. The problem happened when I replaced the disk drive. I found the cabling from the power supply to the motherboard bent in a way it was keeping the full connector seated properly. I removed the cable connection (wide one) from the power supply to the mother board and plugged in the AC cord and the light when solid green. Then unplugged the power cord and waited till the green lite died out, the plugged back into the motherboard and it worked.

I am Althea88, I forgot my pwrd so I am guest for right now. On a scale of 1 to 10 I have the computer tech savvy about 5, with that said...I have changed my power supply up from a 300W to a 600W on my own-now my computer is back up and running-If you have this issue with no power and green light flashing my best advice is to change power supply first. This does not only happen with HP computers my parents have compaq and exact same thing happened to them and replaced power supply fixed their issue. Parents had friend install the supply for them-part and labor $65, I got supply $30 installed by self. Depending on brand you get and how big you go (W) price varies.
After 11 emails from HP they finally admitted that the power supply needed to be replaced, they offered to sell me a flat screen monitor to resolve my issue (yes I did say monitor), to which I said no thank you very much. My new power supply is on it's way to me from another reputable computer supply retailer and I am crossing my fingers this will resolve my issue too. My system is HP a824n, my mother also had the same issue with a Compaq, she took hers to a computer repair shop-$65 (power supply and install labor cost), a newer bigger power supply was installed and she is now back computing!
Buy and install a new power supply, that is my reccomendation on resolving this issue promptly.

I have the same problem exactly and have tried all the suggestions from HP website. I moved my computer from one floor of my house to another-didn't even leave the house. I have opened it up unhooked the power hooked it back up still same no power and light just flashes on power supply in back. I have tried the five second hole the button with everything unhooked I have tried the switch in the back for five seconds. I have tried all of the fixes reccomend here short of purchasing a new power supply, which I have already read does not solve this issue. Can someone help?
hp "disconnect and hold the button in" steps not working. a430n computer is plugged into an APC 1000VA UPS. green light still blinking. power outage occurred and I turned computer off using normal shutdown Win XP. now it will not power back on. tried plugging into supply ahead of UPS...still nothing new. No more HP computers for me...there has been too many nagging problems with it (xp normally has difficultly shutting down, video cards act strangely, card reader ports slower than direct to camera, strange fan noises).
Having same problem with my tower. Green light in back by power cord flashes but will not turn on. Power going to speakers, modem, monitor and printer but no fans or activity in tower. Is this a tower problem or an electrical outlet problem? TV, DVD and everything else work from that outlet. Tried different outlets and changing volts from red button below power cord, next to troublesome green light. Just moved and trying to figure what this could possibly be, have never seen this problem before.
Green light on back flickers, but computer will not turn on, when start button on front is pressed. Had the same problem at the end of March and it didn't turn on for a few days and then when I pressed the start button all of a sudden it came on, but not this time.

EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE REST. I WILL TRY ALL THE QUICK FIXES BEFORE I CHANGE THE POWER SUPPLY. I'LL GET BACK TO EVERYONE TO LET YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS.
I did the motherboard test (disconnect 20 pin/jumper geen to black/reconnect power) and the fans and drives started normally. I am not in the position to replaced the mboard so for now I have a staple bent into a U jumpering the green to black. This will suffice until I get the pics off the hard drives.
Very old refurbished desktop worked great a couple of days ago but now when i turn it on there is nothing on the screeen. there is definately power going to the unit as the blue light on the tower is on. there is also a constant orange light that i never noticed before but could be wrong. it is a steady constant orange light. it does not blink at all. there are no error code beeps when i power up the computer. i have checked all cords and wires are plugged in correctly. my monitor has power to it as well. the indicator lights come on when i power it up but all my screen says is "no signal"...please help...any suggestions?
