You have to start pedaling to get it to start up, some times you have to pedal pretty fast to get it to start up

Change the battery. It is a 9v battery behind the small door on the back of the display panel.

Possible causes for a dead battery or it not holding charge

1. Battery has lost its ability to hold a charge (dead battery)
2. Charging system on unit has failed (battery cables, alternator, or alternator control board)

Battery 9500hr

Replacement Parts for Fitness Exercise Equipment at SPORTSMITH

If the battery continues to fail, I would check the alternator brushes and see if they need to be replaced. Chances are they are worn and the battery is not being recharged sufficiently.

How can I determine which Lifecycle I own.. I purchased it second hand (X-Balley) and other then Lifecycle HR on its side I see nothing else discribing it. The battery is in need of replacement. I...

On the bottom the bike frame their should be s# plate. If you need to replace the battery you need to: first remove the foot pedals, then side panels.

A 6v @ 2.5Ah battery should be in the frame p01001700030685.jpg
they sold run about $20.00 to $27.00 plus S/H

Precor C846 Recumbent Bike - heart monitor not working

You can test the HR grips to see if the wiring is good all the way from the contact grips to the upper board by doing a test with your meter. Get a meter that can test fuses and beeps if the fuse is good.
disconnect the 4 pin brown connector at the console board, on one side will be some metal contacts.
Touch one end of the meter lead to one wire and the other to the HR contact plate on the handlebar. try all the contact plates on the handle bar until it beeps, then move the lead to the next wire and repeat until all contact plates beep. It all of them beep then your wiring is ok and the problem is in the Heart Rate board in the console or the connection point on the board.
Let me know how it turns out.
