I am NOT getting SOUND from my hdtv when i hook up my hp pavilion dv9030us laptop (hdmi) i get a great picture but NO SOUND, i am running vista on my laptop. THERE ARE 2 OPTIONS IN MY SOUND DEVICES. 1.SOUND 2.S/PDIF CAN SOME ONE HELP PLEEEESE. THANKS ROB
HDMI sends both video and audio. Once you have selected a digital output as your sound option (on computer in sound settings) then hook up your HDMI cable to computer and TV. Then (her is the trick) restart your computer. Once you restart, you should be all set. Good luck.
What do i need to send video signal from my pc to tv given my pc does have a HDMI output
When using an HDMI to DVI cable their is no audio that comes through that cable. Even if you use HDMI to HDMI most computers only have video output from HDMI. You will have to use a seperate audio cable for you to be able to get the sound to work. Depending on the output you have on your laptop you may have to resort to hooking up a pair of speakers to the headphone jack.
Hope this helps.

Its not all graphics card that support sending sound true the HDMI.
1.Have you verified, if yours can ?
2.Check in device manager if all drivers are installed ?
you can see there too in the sound devices if there is one for HDMI
3. Did you go in Control Panel / Sounds and audio devices / audio tab ?
