USING ANY FUNCTION ON CANON 5000/5000F, GET MESSAGE "UNABLE TO SELECT TWAIN SOURCE". HAVE UNINSTALLED AND REINSTALLED, DOWNLOADED DRIVERS, NONE HELPED.

Hello... It appears that it's not an uncommon problem. One workaround would be to use the "Scaner and Camera Wizard" that comes with Windows. You can find it in XP in the start menu-accesories. In win7 you press the start button and type scanner, you will have a list of programs, documents and other files related to the scanner, use the first one it finds. The only draw back is that you won't be able to use some functions, can't tell you which as i don't have the device. What windows version are you using?

When I try to scan I get a message - connect to Twain source but I don't know what they are talking about?

The TWAIN device is the scanner itself. The program seems to be saying it can't see the scanner.

Is this scanner new to your computer?
Have you installed the driver for it?
Which program is giving you the error message?

Scanning Film

Have you used this scanner on Leopard already? I didn't think this scanner was supported.

Do a search on "Leopard". The CanoScan 5000F is not supported in this OS.
