SOURCE: "FE" error code; won't stop filling

Hello Sheri Tucker,

The "FE" code is referring to a bad or malfunctioning water valve. The machine continues to fill because the solenoid on the valve inside the machine isn't closing to stop the water. The valve should be inspected and/or replaced if bad. This will require some dis-assembly, if washing machine repair isn't something your comfortable with then a service call is the best bet. If you are going to try and inspect yourself please make sure you unplug the machine before starting any dis-assembly. Hope this helps.

Thanks,

SOURCE: LG Washing Machine stops spinning in mid cycle

IE:

• Water supply is not adequate in
area.
• Water supply taps are not
completely open.
• Water inlet hose is bent.
• The filter of the inlet hose clogged.

Solution:
Check another tap in the house.
Fully open tap.
Straighten hose.
Check the filter of the inlet hose.

UE:
• Load is too small.
• Load is out of balance.
• The appliance has an imbalance
detection and correction system. If
individual heavy articles are loaded
(bath mat, bath robe, etc.) and the
imbalance is too great, after several
attempts to restart the spin cycle the
machine will stop and the error code
will be displayed.

Solution:
Add 1 or 2 similar items to help
balance the load.
Rearrange load to allow proper
spinning.

SOURCE: "FE" Error code on Lg Washer #2277HB

FE means overflow condition. That means sand or trash has gotten into the tube going from tub to water level switch. So find that hose and blow it out. Remove the standing water and retry.

SOURCE: WM2277HW LG WASHER FE error

you need to replace the inlet valve fe means fill error the valve is stuck open this is the most common way to flood your house with a appliance usually they get stuck shut and you cant get any water in. then every now & then one can get stuck open & if you put the machine on and go out it will flood the whole house.

LG WM3987HW Combo - drum is filling with water during dry cycle.

Sears Parts Direct is one source of the parts diagrams, https://www.searspartsdirect.com/model/1vc37q1bdj-003204/lg-wm3987hw-washer-parts . See the Dispenser assembly parts diagram for the water inlet valve. If you can watch the entire cycle, try turning off the shut-off valves for the washer inlet hoses after the rinse cycle and before the dry cycle starts. Water should not flow into the washer/dryer with the shut-offs closed.

I've seen inlet valve solenoids fail in the open position or in the closed position. I've never seen a control board that sent open messages randomly. (Sometimes, there is damage to the control board or corrosion or damaged wiring that stops the control board from sending the open/closed message to the solenoid.)

I hope this helps.

Error Code FE

As a temporary workaround, until you repair/replace the valve - you can shut the water off at the tap. Frequently, that will get the water valve in the machine to shut off, and when you reopen the tap the water won't be running (until the next time the machine wants to fill). You can babysit the machine, shutting off the water when necessary, and it will eventually wash your load.
