Most of the remove and uninstall directions I found didn't take care of the problem. Most of the removals would only work if you are using Internet Explorer for your browser. I use Google Chrome. My husband finally figured out how to solve the problem. I had uninstalled Genieo under Add/Remove programs but it was still opening as my homepage instead of Google. Click on the Tool in the right-hand corner. Click on Settings. You will see "On Start Up" part way down. Click on "Set Pages." You will see Yahoo Genieo is set as homepage. Move mouse to that so it becomes highlighted. An X will appear to the right. Click on X. Then type the web address for the homepage of your choice in box and click "OK". Genieo will no longer open as your homepage. Hope this helps anyone who was as frustrated as I was. In Internet Explorer, you click on Tools, then click on Internet Options. Under General Tab, delete Genieo and type URL for your homepage, and then click on "Apply" at the bottom and then "OK". Problem solved.

goto control panal if windows OS , goto add and remove programs and delete it from there , in mac OS got finder and find it and again delete it , easy fix

If you value your privacy, and the stability of your computer, then don't follow any suggestions that include using the genieo adware uninstaller : it leaves active software behind.
The company know this, but seem unable or unwilling to resolve it.
Change the settings when you open Google. Genieo replaced the normal Google startup settings when you allowed a program to install on the device. Go to the square icon with three bars on it, Clcik on the Icon and go to settings. There you make changes.
