Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done.
You should have its original remote control to enter the service mode. No universal remote control will go.

And when you hit it, it sometimes works?
Did you check the solder close to and on the HT transformer?
Please if you are not an electronic engineer, don't open the television, because voltages up to 25.000 volts are there. That can kill you.

I have Philips 21RF Vardaan. At the time of start, if I could not change chanals
tv switched off automatically. Please held me out.

I hv philips 21RF vardaan TV ,there is sound on AV channel. and the picture is blinking. even some menu setting have changed.. i tried using the service menu but cudnt understand anything. 2 new av channels have come.. av2 and front which were not present before. sound is not coming even on the other channels but picture is fine on them. only on the av1 channel it is blinking., the philips technision had solved this prob once by pressing some code by remote and i don't know the system code

Yes it worked for me by doing blw :
Press : 062596 & menu button to open service menu.
Then change blw values on option tab :
op1 : 128op2 : 215op3 : 065op4 : 000op5 : 192op6 : 129op7 : 112
then press menu button & power button on remote & plug-out the main cable from power socket for 10 seconds.
Then switch on the unit for result...............

check option bites find it on crt or back cover to enter serv mode coll following comands
062596 menu or display the data will appear select options and set by vol and ch keys

just open the service manual & change the option to 1-128 ,2- 215 , 3- 065 , 4- 000 , 5- 192 , 6- 129 , 7- 112

You need the original remote controller to be able to switch input modes.Universal ones usually don't work. If you don't have the original remote and can't find it ever or if it is too expensive you can buy an rf modulator ( very cheap) and connect your dvd player, game console etc) to the modulator then connect the modulator to your antenna with a coax cable. This worked for me. It placed the connection to channel 4 and other cable channels are still working,
