1. Boot the computer to the boot menu: To do this, restart the computer and press the appropriate key when prompted to enter the boot menu. On most eMachines computers, this is the "F12" key.

It has a hard drive password set. If you know the password then when you first boot the laptop go into the Bios and into security.. In there you will find where you can disable the hard drive password by entering it and choosing disable

You will need to install the operating system on the new hard drive for it to boot.Also you need to set you're boot order in the bios to CD then the HARD DRIVE.Get the operating system set the bios boot order then install it.
