BACKGROUND FROZEN When you turn the TV on it stops at the blue Mitsubishi screen and the power button just blinks. You have to then unplug the TV to power down. Pushing the power button on the TV or remote will not power down. TV is only 1 year old. Prior to now it would shut down prior to the blue screen. The fan is working but TV still produces a lot of heat.

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, [Exclude the model number] in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

Mitsubishi 73" DLP powers on, through welcome

If you are getting at turn on source and back ground is all blue the set will shut down rather quickly;

I have a suggestion, if it works fine, and if not it will not hurt anything.

with original Mitsubishi remote turn set on and then Menu, 1,2,3, enter.

This is the soft reset that most of these sets have (cannot be sure since Model number above is correct?)

The reset button on the front (if it has it) just shuts the set down and reboots the DM unit inside.

Most of these sets when it is pressed the green light will blink for about 70 seconds and go out; that is the DM unit rebooting and the soft restart is something else.

Let me know what you find before you rate this information.

Hello,
There is a software update that is available for some Mitsubishi dlp models. The wd-65c9 is one of them. When I experienced your problem, I went to the website, downloaded the update, and installed it on my tv and boom, its fixed. It's super easy, free, and takes a few minutes.

I have tried to turn my television on and the status light blinks for about a minute, you can hear the TV try to start up and then the whole system shuts down without anything actually powering up. Also...

Unplug the tv for about a minute - plug it in and press the reset button on the front of the tv - hold it until the light blinks. The set should come on in a minute of two - if not try the same routine again.

Green (power on) light continuously blinking/set won't turn on

This set was designed in such a way that when it is unplugged and plugged back in the LED will blink for around 90 seconds and then stop. During that time you cannot turn the set on. This is the amount of time it takes for the Digital Module to boot up. These units have a problem with some capacitors going bad in the Digital Module and when that happens the LED never stops blinking. You need to contact a qualified repair shop to get it repaired. I have repaired many and the cost is around $250 to $350 depending on where you live. That set is well worth the repair cost.

Timer light blinks on and off and tv wont turn on

Resetting the TV
If the buttons on the remote AND the buttons on the TV case do not work (channels do not change and you cannot open or navigate the menu), the TV has stopped responding. Reset the TV as follows:

NOTE:
Some TVs have a reset button. If available and accessible, try using the reset buttons before using the steps below. Using the reset buttons can save time.
1. Unplug the TV power cord from the power outlet.
2. Unplug any connected devices (DVD, Set-top boxes, etc...)
3. Press and hold the TV power button for five seconds.
4. Plug the TV power cord back into the power outlet and turn on the TV.
5. Open the on-screen menu to confirm that the TV is responding again.
6. Turn off the TV and reconnect the devices.
7. Turn on the TV.
If ever resetting is no effect then the problem is in the "DM board"
The constant blinking green light means that the TV is not booting up. This is a common problem on this set. Hope it may help you; Regards, VOTIT
