I have a Nikon d3300 that turns off automatically after i take a photo - can you assist

If the screen display is shutting off, that's a normal function. If the camera is entirely shutting off it might be a bad battery or a very weak battery.

How do i add a second switch to my rc8233r?

I would try Ebay first (or search the net for availability and prices). I bought CR2032 3V Button Cell (that are used in my Carlon door chime buttons) batteries. I got 10 for under $5. Carlon (Thomas & Betts) still makes a variety of door chimes and accessories. However, on their site, the prices are atrocious. But, I think that Thomas & Betts deals in bulk (as in dealing with retailers). Because they list their items in bulk price form. I personally have 5 T&B wireless door chimes. Hence, 4 of the buttons are in storage. Out of curiosity, I tried all of them. All 4 extra buttons rang all the door chimes. Caution, on the packages of the door "chimes" I purchased. There's a blurb on there that states the wireless buttons for the "door chimes" will not work with the "doorbells". If you have the packaging for the one you have. It will explain. I'm not positive, but it seems the variance is due to whether you use battery or electric powered models. Hope I was of assistance...Greg

I turned the camera on. The screen came on then quit like the batteries were dead. I replaced the batteries, then bought new ones. I cannot get the camera to come on when I move the "on"...

ths issue happens every so often on these cameras. for some reason it seems the camera has issues interacting with the lens motor and turns off. you need to make sure the len shoot is clean of obstruction and try to give it a wiggle or turn. leave the batteries out of the unit for about 5 minuts and for 10 seconds before hold the power button over. then place the batteries in the unit. this is something that i have happen to my unit atleast 2 or 3 times a year.

Big fingers and need it simple

Tammy,
The HP PhotoSmart E317 is indeed a simple to use camera. Here's a picture of the back of the camera. TestFreaks gave it a 6.0 out of 10 -- from the experts. However, real users (consumers like you and me) gave it a 7.9 out of 10. There are very few buttons to deal with and the open/close door acts as the power off/on function. It should be a good replacement for your older camera.

I hope this helps!
Regards,
CharlieJ

Not turning on

The batteries probably need to be replaced. Be sure that any batteries seat properly and tightly. You may have to tape the battery door shut with strong tape to keep the contact tight. This type of damage is expensive to repair compared to the cost of the cameras. You can take it in and have it looked at, but be sure to get an estimate and then you can make an educated decision on whether to repair or replace it.

Best wishes to you and Thank you for using Fix Ya!

Error Code C:32:11 Tape does not eject

try removing the button cell battery, main battery, and any other power source from the camera and let it sit for one hour. THen using only the AC adaptor, see if the camera works, if it doesn't then you may have to take it to a repair shop, cause the cassette door has malfunctioned.

Date time setting does not program

There is not an option to remember the date/time when you power off the camera. The camera should always remember the time. If it forgets the setting when you power it off then your backup battery has gone dead. Check your manual to see if it is something you can replace yourself. I am not familiar with this camera specifically but some cameras make the backup battery accessible and some require disassembly. David Millier Advance Camera Repair
