Delete icons I have got 4 unwanted icons on my desktop, which I NEED TO GET RID OF. THEY ARE PROGRAMMES WHICH ARE SLOWING DOWN MY COMPUTER.

To delete an app, existing or downloading. Hold down the icon until the icons shake and red minus icon appears, then tap on red minus button to delete.

The usual way to remove programmes installed on your computer is as follows (however you will need to be an authorised user or administrator):

1. with the computer running click on the Start icon in the LH corner of the bottom menu bar
2. then click on Control Panel
3. then click on Programmes and Features
4. in the list of installed programmes shown select the one you wish to delete
5. then select uninstall in the menu bar above (you may get a window requesting you to authorise the next step)
6. then click OK
7. The computer should then delete this programme from your computer.

When this is completed you can delete the next programme you wish to remove by selecting it then selecting uninstall.

cpu should be cleaned once in every two months. install c cleaner in your desktop, it will delete unwanted files from your computer and makes your computer to work faster. remove unwanted desktop icons. uninstall unwanted and unknown softwares which may reduce the speed of the computer... hope you enjoy the answer...

start your computer in safe mode ,run auto run manager (download it first from internet ) stop unwanted programs from list , then open task manager , open process list , delete unwanted user process , then open run, type regedit , click export in file option of regit window. Save it on desktop, shut down your computer , run on normally ,click on file that you save on desktop ,click merge to registry. Then it will be fine

You can delete icons on your desktop by clicking on them, and pressing "Delete." This will only delete the shortcut icons, not the program themselves. To uninstall programs, open your computer's "Control Panel" and click "Uninstall Programs."

If you want to get rid of browsing history, cookies and other internet garbage, you can do this by clicking on the hard drive icon in My computer (right click) Tools and disc clean up and then Right click / tools and defragment. These should help speed up the laptop as it gives windows more access to its swap file.

As to the internet problem, check the wireless card is working, download up to date drivers, if the card is not working or has failed, obtain a USB network dongle and use that to connect with. Check also your wireless security settings

Most of the icons are related to software you have installed. To shutdown these applications, the easiest way to temporarily turn them off is to run "msconfig". Try doing this as follows...
Press and hold the Windows Logo Key, usually located left of the space bar. While holding this key down, press and immediately release the "R" key. In the box that appears type msconfig and press the enter key or click ok. If you have administrative access, you will see a dialog appear with several tabs across the top. Choose the startup tab and uncheck each application you do not want to run. apply the settings and restart your computer. You can always go back and uncheck choices you want to have run.
