I have a Canon Pixma MP450 all in one printer. Recently I bought a "higher quality" color cartridge for it, the Canon CL-52 color photo cartridge. It says on the box that it is for Canon Pixma series printers. It appears to be the correct size & snaps into the place for the color cartridge. However, then I get the following error message "U059 The following ink cartridge cannot be recognized." Then the printer won't work until I remove the cartridge, not even just for black and white. Any ideas?
I sure u buy wrong cartridge for your MP450...if u want higher quality, u should buy CL-51 cartridge for colour and CL-50 for black..
fyi, CL-52 can only suitable for IP6210D / IP6220D printer. u can see yourself at this link :

hope this help... ; )
Was there a piece of plastic covering the circuit strip on the cartridge? could be clear or bluish. if so you need to peel it off. and then put it back in the printer... of not may want to take it back and get another cartridge.

I checked the link and you're correct. The label on the box was unclear. I bought it from Amazon. According to the description on their website, this cartridge fits in my printer.
