Try this. hook up the cable, right click on your speaker icon at bottom right of screen, select audio devices, select the digital audio option, then restart your machine. Then you should be good. May have to do the opposite to get computer speakers working once you are done with the TV hook up.

My hp pavilion dv9030us is having display problem i cant run window in normal modei have to run it in safe mode and when i do i have green blocks running in a straight line down my screen all over it.

All of this is caused by the video card, it has failed and must be replaced. Unfortunately this is a custom card, the only ones that have it are the repair shops from the HP dealers - you will have to take your laptop to one of them.

I just hooked up my HP Pavilion 9000 Laptop to my Vizio TV and put the TV on correct setting. It is not working on the TV, any ideas? I went on Display setup and kept trying to connect but it says the...

If your laptop has a VGA port, your Vizio needs to have a VGA port too so you can use a standard VGA monitor cable.

If your laptop has a DVI port, you hook it up to the Vizio using a DVI-to-HDMI cable.

And if your laptop has an HDMI port, you hook it up using a standard HDMI cable.

Hope this helps.

NO SOUND WHEN USING HDMI FROM PC TO HDTV (RUNNING VISTA)

When using an HDMI to DVI cable their is no audio that comes through that cable. Even if you use HDMI to HDMI most computers only have video output from HDMI. You will have to use a seperate audio cable for you to be able to get the sound to work. Depending on the output you have on your laptop you may have to resort to hooking up a pair of speakers to the headphone jack.

Hope this helps.

How to hook up a hp pavilion laptop to a hdtv

if it worked fine at some point then it should work fine now... i use hdmi to hdmi from my laptop to tv all the time dvi would only cause quality loss.

the first thing i would try would be to change your resolution on your laptop to a couple different settings. a lot of times, if its not set to one thats compatible with your tv, you won't see anything.

if that doesn't work, go to personalization and open the tab that says "connect an external display" and toy around with it. but yeah it doesn't sound like you have any hardware problems there.

hope this helps

Picture but no sound through my s-video hook up.

S video is just video, you need to run two rca jacks to the left and right audio channel thet the s video is on. The only one that runs both audio and video is the HDMI, component is 5 wires, s is 3, as is the old shhool rca 2 audio 1 video, so if you want the best picture and sound use the HDMI, next step down is Component, 5 wires, 1red ,1blue, and one green, just for the video, then the right and left audio. Or an optical audio, but HDMI is what you want, one wire does it all
