Limited connection

Limited connectivity
If you get a 'Limited connectivity" on you wirelessconnection on your laptop, it means that the wireless card on your laptopprobably did not get an IP address from the wireless router.
To fix this problem, right click on the wireless icon on the Task bar and thenclick Repair.
This will force the wireless router to issue a IP address to the wireless cardon the laptop.

I am unable to connect to the internet using a wireless connectio

I would first try and reset the router, then run a Repair on the connection again.

If this doesn't work, try going into the Device Manager and removing the Wireless Device. Restart the computer and reinstall the Wireless Device drivers.

Can  Dynex 4 Port Router DX-E402 be used to connect internet on a notebook without using cable to notebook?? i.e. Can it be used like a wireless g router??

Unfortunately, the DX-E402 is not a wireless router, so it can not transmit its signal without a physical cable connecting the router to your computer. If you want a wireless router that can also connect to your ISP, check out the Dynex Enhanced Wireless G Router:

Replaced Linksys Wireless-B 2.4GHz 807.11b Router and Wireless B 2.4GHz 802.11b Wireless-B Notebook Adapter with Linksys-N Ultra Range Plus Wireless-N Gigabit Router, and Wireless N Ultra Range plus Dual...

Try resetting your IP address:
The laptop may be trying to use the IP address from the old router.

1) Click Start (assuming Windows 2000, XP, or Vista)
2) Click Run
3) Type in CMD
This will take you to a black command box
4) Type in: ipconfig/release
The chart should show your IP address as 0.0.0.0
Once this has happened, proceed to step 5
5) Type in: ipconfig/renew
You should now see a new IP address listed.

Also note that you need to set up your network key (assuming that you are using one) on both the router and laptop.
Make sure that your router is set up to perform as DHCP server.
