First pot in the morning is perfectly hot. We started to notice that our 2nd and 3rd pot of coffee during the day was coming out lukewarm, They used to be piping hot. I cleaned the machine, ran vinegar, etc. No help. Then I replaced the in-tank heating element and the hi-limit thermostat on the top of the tank. No change. The temp is turned to high on the thermostat dial inside the trunk. I've turned that off and on, and dialed it up and back but nothing changes. What else could be going on? I'm stumped.
If you have a hot water spigot, the thermal fuse is blown. open up the top and look in the rear right corner. you'll see a brown tube with wires coming out both ends. that's the fuse. replace it or jumper it.

Most likely suspect is the thermostat, however you might want to check the limit switch also(located on boiler between elements).

We left vinegar in the coffeemaker overnight. Seems to have done the trick - water is heating up now after 20 or so minutes instead of several hours.

It sounds like the thermostat is not working properly. Please get the model and date code located on the bottom of the machine. Then contact customer service with this information. If your brewer is 3 years old or less, it will be replaced at no cost. If it is over 3 years old, then it will be replaced at a reduced cost.

Did you let the vinegar mix with the hot water in the tank for 2 hours? If this didn't fix the problem, please call 800-352-2866 with the model and date code and we will be happy to assist you with this problem.

Believe it or not I had a customer once that left 6 pounds of butter on top of one of our brewers. They had it cleaned up on the outside so it took me a while to figure out what had happened but I could taste the rancid oils.
We ran about 20 pots of just water through it... make sure you let it heat back up before each one. I think the only thing vinegar might help with would be lime/calcium build up so I wouldn't think it helps this particular situation.
Good luck!

Also, the first pot in the morning continues to be very hot. It's every pot after that first pot that is lukewarm. After the machine sits for 12-15hrs it get's hot again.
