Your amp based on what you say would have no problems whatsoever with an 8 ohm load, not even if it actually has dual 4 ohm coils and you wire them in parallel giving a 2 ohm load (don't know your particular sub).

Every good car amp has protection circuits to prevent itself or the speakers from damage from too low loads so it shouldn't be a problem even if you screw up with your calculations. A good amp should even be capable of dealing with a dead short on a channel, zero ohms, activating protection of course.

Good luck and don't worry!

You will get about a 100W out of that amp @ 8 ohm which is about what the sub will take, it seems to be a good match based on a quick review of basic parameters. This will give you plenty of power in a good cabinet, this driver is very flexible. Have fun!

What way should I hook 2 12" jl audio to a jl audio 1000/1

Is this sub an svc or a dvc? From what I looked up they are svc, so each sub's voicecoil is 3 OHMS, connecting them in parallel would lower them to 1.5, and your amp is capable of going down to 1.5 ohms. So I would suggest running them in parallel.

Speakers wired in parallel
Recommended Amplifier: Stable at 2 or 1 ohm mono 2_4ohm_svc_2ohm.gif
(Although from the information I gathered these subs have 3 OHM voicecoils, so in the diagram where is says 4 OHM it should say 3 OHM, and the 2 OHM should say 1.5 OHMS.

This is a good site to help calculate OHMS: http://www.bcae1.com/spkrmlti.htm

Hope this helps.

I am wondering what amp i would need for 2 JL Audio W3v3 - 2ohms. I am looking for something around 200. SHould I go with the Mono block and how many watts?

well you can go a couple different directions. you can wire them parallel or in series. parallel will get you down to about 1.3 ohms at the amp and series will get you close to 4 ohms. you need an amplifier thats stable at either of those impedances. the lower the resistance (impedance) the more power your going to get to the subs. I manage an electronics store and specialize in mobile audio/video. we are a 'Signature JL Audio Dealer' so i like to say i know the product line very well. JL makes an amplifier that is stable from 1.5 to 4 ohms and will put out the same amount of power at any impedance in that range which is really nice. Its called their 'Slash Series' you are looking for a JL Audio 500/1 amplifier. Grab an 8 gauge amp kit (4 gauge would over do it) and wire 'em up. Enjoy!

2 12" dvc subs 2 ohm stable amp

+ on amp output to + on speaker #1 to + on speaker #2. - on amp output to - on speaker #1 to - on speaker #2. This is a parallel circuit....4 ohms in parallel with 4 ohms = 2 ohms. IF it were wired in series....would represent 8 ohm load.

I have a ly1440 amp how can i wire it to my hk15x2

This subwoofer has (2) 2 Ohm voicecoils.
Which means you will only be able to wire a 1 Ohm or 4 Ohm configuration for your amplifier.
The Model # you listed for the amplifier is not a valid one.

If your amplifier is 1 Ohm mono stable...
you wire both (+) Sub to amp (+)
and both (-) on Sub to amp (-)
This is PARALLEL wiring and lets the amplifier SEE a one ohm load

If your amplifier is NOT one ohm mono capable - your only other possibility is a 4 Ohm load.

Wire from (+) on amplifier to one (+) on the sub
Then Wire from (-) on amplifier to the OTHER terminal's (-)
You will have one (+) and one (-) left on the subwoofer - wire them together.

This is SERIES wiring, and nets a 4 ohm load for your amplifier.

There is no other configuration for wiring one Dual 2 ohm sub.

AMP

That amplifier is only stable to 2 ohms.
You will only be able to use one Dual 4 ohm Subwoofer wired in parallel (all + to + on amp.... all - to - on amp.
This will yield a 2 ohm mono load.

It is impossible to wire (2) dual 4 ohm voicecoils to achieve a 2 ohm mono load.

If you're set on using both subwoofers - they will not be getting as much power from your amplifier with a 4 ohm load - but it is your only option.
