SOURCE: cannot get my krups burr

Hi,

The GVX2 has two micro switches. one on the top hopper (in the groove on right hand side) and the other in the space the coffee holder (collector) fits into.

The coffee collector micro switch is activated by the lid of the collector.

You have to listen for a small "click" as you place the hopper on and again as you insert the coffee collector.

regards

SOURCE: GVX2-12 Electric Burr Grinder: blue power light not coming on...

Check all connections and plug then after that it is a short behind the switch and will need to be sent back to the manufacturer.

Motor quit running

I recently found one and it wouldn't turn so I took off the top burr and it would turn on so I would start with a thorough cleaning of the burrs then check the setting of the burrs, if they are too close the they wont allow the motor to run.
Next if the motor runs but the burrs don't turn it would be a sheared shear pin which is designed to shear in case a pebble got in the coffee before damage could occur
Third worn motor brushes. My motor was intermittent and found the brushes down to nothing. Now I am looking for new ones

BURRS are the metal parts that grinds the coffee. There are 2 BURRS in the grinders, The upper burr is normally the one you adjust (Fine or coarse) and the lower or closer to the motor is the one turning during the grinding process.

Grinder doesnt grind beans although the motor works and the burr spins. I have cleaned it per the instructions and reassembled . Everything seems to fit together properly, but the beans don't seem to be...

I would suspect a log in the outlet shute where it goes into the grinds hopper. Clean it out and then turn the hopper to the coarsest setting to clean it out all together. Coarse grinds are a very good cleaner.

Burrs spin but no grinding

Try this, remove the bean hopper, and vac out the burr chamber, then put 1 tablespoon white rice in the burr chamber and cover with hand and turn grinder on, if the rice grinds, then your grind might have been set too fine. Turn the grinder towards fine until you can barely turn the burr nut, you will feel them touching, then turn course about 16 notches (do not use numbers, use the small notches around the rim), that should give you a great starting point for your grind.

I received a new lower burr grinder part from SAECO for my machine but no instructions on how to replace it. I know how to clean and replace the removable grinder part that fits into this. Do you have...

Hi
If you only got the lower burr it won't work. They should be matching burrs.
If you don't do it right, you will damage the grinder. You need a #10 Torex bit.

Insert the bit into the screw in the middle of a very clean grinder. Turn clockwise to loosen. Once the screw is out, pull the burr out, but be careful. There are ball bearings and springs under the burr. Make sure that everything is clean before reassembly. There are 3 holes in the bottom of the grinder. The springs go into the holes first. Then the ball bearings set on top of the springs. Place the new lower burr on top of the springs. A washer and the corkscrew go in next. Insert the screw in and with the bit in place turn (with a little down force) clockwise until the screw drops into place, then turn counterclockwise. It should turn fairly easy. Once you start putting pressure on the springs, try to turn the corkscrew. There is a notch that it slips into in the bottom of the grinder. Once it locks into place keep turning the screw until you start to turn the burr. That should be tight enough. Now reassemble the top burr and adjust.

Cleaned the Solis Maestro grinder and re set it to a fine espresso setting but the grind is coming out very course. What should i do?

Hi Your burr is not locked in. You need to remove the beans from the hopper. Remove the hopper. Remove the burr. Turn the grinder upside down over the trash can. Put the burr back in only make sure that the burr is down. Install the bean hopper and when you turn the bean hopper it should move the burr. Then you can adjust your grind. Make sure that the grinder is running is your going to a finer grind or you could break the grinder. You can turn it to a coarse grind any time.

Oily beans seem to have clogged our coffee grinder up. What can we do?

Rotate the bean hopper counter clockwise until it stops. Lift it off. Remove the outer burr with the 2 wings and clean under the burr. Clean the opening going to the chute for ground coffee(inside where the burr was).
Install the outer burr. Install the bean hopper. Rotate the bean hopper to the French press grind (coarsest) and operate the grinder. This will clean the burrs and the passages. If it starts to clog, repeat the last part to clean the burrs and passage. It must be grinding to go to a finer setting, but you can go to a coarser setting any time. Another thing. Turn the grinder upside down (empty) and rotate the bean hopper back and forth to clean the threads of the adjusting burr..

Severe clogging

Try using long grain white rice works better than minute rise, if that does not help, then the burrs need to be replaced on grinder.
