Why bmw x5 battery drain fan not working exhaust blowing out white smoke... what may be happening.

White smoke out of the exhaust indicates moisture (water) in the exhaust. If the car is not driven very far each day, some moisture will collect in the muffler and cause white smoke for a short while after starting. If the smoke is continual, however, you need to watch you coolant level as you may have a blown head gasket.

What causes fan belt to break when starting.

Have someone watch the pulleys while you crank the engine.
It sounds like the tension idler is not turning, not an uncommon problem with the 3200 series motors.
The bearing goes bad or the plastic starts to crumble.
If it stops or shows smoke to the person watching, replace it and the belt and you should be good.

Leaking valve seal

smoke doesnt necessarily mean the valve seal is bad, check the valve cover breather. sometimes they plug up and **** oil up from motor. start it up and watch inside of carb for oil dripping.

When i turn on my 1983 buick regal it starts smoking from behind the motor some where and i cannot figure it out. what could it be?

Oil. if the smoke is coming from between the engine block and the firewall then its probably oil on the exhaust manifold. Make sure that your engine is not leaking oil from the seals and make sure the oil cap and dipstick are in place, start your car, with the hood up and observe the smoke if its bad then id take it to a mechanic but if its only mild then providing your engine isn't leaking oil it should burn off within a few minutes of the engine being started, i say watch the smoke because if it is leaking oil onto the exhaust in great amounts then it is possible it could catch fire.

My smoker stopped smoking; the temperature is IDEAL

You will need to replenish the charcoal as it burns down. You can also add some soaked wood chips or wood chunks at the same time for additional smoke flavor. It you are using the water pan it would be a good time make sure it has plenty of water also.

Watch your temperatures and when you see it start to drop, add more fuel to keep the temps up.

I hope this helps.

I have a 2002 vw passat. it has white smoke!!

Does the smoke occur all the time? If it is present just after start up and then goes away, it could be no problem at all. There is always some condensation in the exhaust at start up. It is more noticeable in cold weather.

However, if it is there constantly, and you are losing coolant, it could mean there is a headgasket problem. Watch your coolant level and watch your temperature gauge. If the coolant starts disappearing, and the car starts overheating, stop it immediately and get it to an auto repair shop. Driving a car with a bad headgasket can cause major engine damage.
