Printer Reset instructions for HP 564 inkjet cartridge.

I have refilled the HP 564 inkjet cartridge but need to know how to bypass the message that comes up stating the printer is out of ink. Does anyone know the reset instructions?

Dear, this is basically an auto generated message based on system registery keys, if you want to bypass the message, then there are two ways.

1. put another cartridge in the printer and try to print, after than install the previous (original) cateridge, this will doge the printer as a new cateridge, you problem will be removed. but if you don't have another similar cateridge at hand then follow the step 2 given below.

2. Uninstall the driver, unplug the printer, restart the system and reinstall the printer dirver again, your problem will be removed.

Best regards.

It's not an automated message based on system registry keys. matter of fact, I use Linux, which doesn't use a "windows registry" yet I still get the messages. On the bottom of the communistic ink cartridges is a chip that tells the printer when it "thinks" you should be low on ink. It also says which color and whether the cartridge has been used before. In order to reset the ink cartridge, it must be thrown away and replaced with another one. editing the registry or trying to swap cartridges multiple times will do nothing but waste your time. Best option... use the cartridges and refill them. They will say "low ink" forever because of the little communist chip, but you can refill them.

Ink refill costco hp printer C4780

When you get an HP integrated ink cartridge refilled (i.e. HP 60, 61, 74, 75, 901, 92-98....currently offered at Costco today) or if you buy a remanufactured/compatible HP ink cartridge, the ink levels cannot be reset (HP has a smart chip embedded within the nozzle plate at base of ink cartridge which counts the drops and then registers as empty).....so you'll just need to live with it and ignore 'ink low', 'non-genuine', 'counterfeit' messages and similar while you are using these types of aftermarket supplies. The first video below provides an overview of the 'low ink' phenomena, the 2nd video provides suggested cartridge prep/handling instructions when you return the cartridge for refilling:

HP 74, 75, 74XL, 75XL Cartridges - Solving Errors & Warnings:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5ISTGyScWU

Ink Refilling & Cartridge Care Tips - Everything you need to know: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnXoDIblpdU

If the new (or refilled/reman/compatible) HP 74, 75, 74XL, or 75XL ink cartridge refuses to complete the printer alignment following cartridge installation, then the ink cartridge either has a connectivity issue with the flexible printed circuit cable (inside unit where cartridge mates with cable), rear cartridge contacts or cable contacts are dirty with ink residue, or the cartridge is suffering from marginal internal electrical performance. If you run into a problem where the ink cartridge is performing marginally and blocks printing (via the Red X), you can bypass the error message (usually only 1 time per clearing action):

HP Officejet J5700/J6400 Printers -Cartridge Error Bypass (HP 74-75 Cartridges):

These types of severe cartridge errors (i.e. "refer to documentation" / "incompatible cartridges", "print cartridge(s) problem", etc.) typically indicates the internal micro-electronics of the HP #74/75 cartridge are damaged. The cartridge's electrical wire runs at rear and lower side of the ink cartridge, are very delicate and are somewhat susceptible to ink attack over time, which can lead to premature failures. In addition, the older the cartridge the higher the chance of an internal electrical failure. You can also run a 'Tap 41' diagnostic test to check cartridges electrical health (this is a forced test).....go to www.inkjet411.com for more information on your specific printer model.

HOW TO RESET 920 INK CARTRIDGE ON HP OFFICEJET 6500 AFTER HAVING IT REFILL

FYI, you cannot reset the ink it self. If your using an HP refilled ink cartridge the warranty of your printer will be void. you need to contact HP right away to purchase new ink cartridges.
If the cartridge has been refilled or remanufactured, 'Low on Ink' or 'Ink Alert' messages may be inaccurate or display incorrectly.

How to Reset an HP Inkjet Cartridge
Hi there
Instructions
Things You'll Need:
Adhesive tape

HP inkjet cartridge can be refilled easily, getting it to work again in the printer is another matter.
The contacts on the back of the cartridge are programmed to read the ink level, but they don't reset for the printer just because you add more ink.
You must get the printer to recognize the cartridge as new.
You can do this easily if you have two other old cartridges, or you can manipulate the contacts on the refilled cartridge.

Step 1
Insert the cartridge you refilled into the HP Printer.
Have the printer print an alignment page, thus recognizing the cartridge. The printer will still read the ink level as where it was before you refilled it.
Step 2
Remove the cartridge from the printer and replace it with another old cartridge.
Have the printer print an alignment page with this cartridge so it recognizes it as a different cartridge from the first one.
Step 3
Replace the second cartridge with a third one and run the same alignment page.
Because the printer only retains the memory of two Print Cartridges, it will erase the memory of the first (refilled) cartridge.
Step 4
Insert the refilled cartridge into the printer.
The printer will now recognize the cartridge as being full.

Next Steps
Step 1
Tape over the contact squares on the top left corner of the cartridge's contacts. Insert the cartridge into the printer and run an alignment page. Ignore any messages that might appear saying there is a problem with the cartridge.
Step 2
Take the cartridge out of the printer. Remove the tape from the left corner and tape over the contact squares on the top right corner. Place the cartridge backs in and run another alignment page.
Step 3
Remove and reinsert the cartridge, this time with no tape on any of the contacts. Check to see if the printer recognizes the cartridge as being full.
Step 4
Repeat the above steps if the cartridge is still shown as being empty.
This time, use the bottom corner contact squares instead of the top ones. If you are still unable to reset the cartridges, using multiple cartridges is likely the only way to do it.
jQuery('.article ol .image').each(function(i,e){ var $this = jQuery(this); $this.find('img').error(function(){ jQuery(this).remove(); $this.remove(); }); }); All I ask is to call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.

Are you using genuine HP cartridges?
According to HP, the two cartridges for your printer are the 564 and the 564XL. Either cartridge will work.
HP does not offer another size.

Take the black one out that's in there now and see what the Part # is... then do a search for it.

I have refillled my printer ink cartridge and it worked now it states it is incompatible. Can I bypass printer instruction

Hp printers cartridges have a circuit, which could be damaged in your case. That is the reason you are getting the error message. However, The use of refilled print cartridges alone does not affect either the warranty or any maintenance contract purchased from HP for its Inkjet printers. Repair will not be covered under the warranty or by the maintenance contract if an HP Inkjet printer failure or damage is found to be directly attributed to the use of a modified or refilled HP Inkjet print cartridge.
I strongly sugget you to use HP genuine ink cartrdiges. I understand that wont work out economically.

You replaced with an original or 3rd part refill?
These cartridges can't be reset after refill so the error message may indicate something else.
