You need to either reinstall windows, or take the hard drive out, hook it up as a spare drive to a working computer and copy NTDLR to the root of the laptop hard drive. It would be much easier to reinstall windows. You can always use the recovery portion of Windows, but if I were you I would just do a format and reinstall. NTDLR is just a startup file for Windows XP, that does not mean your hard drive is gone or anything. Please don't forget to rate!..Thanks
YOUR THERMAL HEAT PAD, OR AN INTERNAL DEVICE COULD HAVE SHORTED CAUSING AND OVERLOAD PROTECTION CIRCUIT TO ACTIVATE, WAS THERE AN EVENT THAT OCCURED BEFORE THIS HAPPEN.CHECK WITH THE MANUFACTURE TO SEE IF THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH OTHER UNITS
Hi supertwins, Once you deleted the drive C: (You have trashed the operating system. You're Asus driver CD will not help you at this stage. Did you receive a restore CD? If yes you load that into the CDROM drive & boot to the CDROM. (You do not have a restore CD)? Than you are left with the Windows CD. Load the windows CD into the CD-ROM drive. Power up the notebook. Start pressing the F8 key on the keyboard. Soon you will see a screen that says: Please select boot device: Choose the CD-ROM drive that has the windows CD in it. High light the CDROM & press enter key. Windows should start to load. Follow the instructions on you're screen & install windows. During the install windows will restart & you will see: to load from CD press any key... (DO NOT TOUCH anything! Allow windows to continue all by it's self. This same screen will come up at lease twice. (Just let it go). When windows has finished you can than remove the windows CD & load the Asus CD into the notebook. Install all the software on the Asus CD. When finished installing the software from Asus, update windows through windows update service.
Good Luck!
then select the series under model-A2000 then select the model type A2H then pick out the operating system click search and you would be fine...just download all u need..
You didn't need to replace the hard drive if there is a missing NTLDR file, it just means that the boot sector is missing or corrupt.
You can fix it by putting in your WinXP CD, and choosing REPAIR.(This is known as the Recovery Console and it's in DOS just to warn you...)
Then you can type the following at the dos prompt:
fixmbr - Fixes corrupt master boot record
fixboot - Fixes corrupt boot sector
bootcfg /rebuild - Fixes corrupt or missing boot.ini
