Igloo MIS1530 not cold

My new Igloo Beverage center runs, but items are not getting very cold. I can also smell refrigerant.

    Having the same problem with mine. had it about 5 weeks. worked fine at first but now it won't cool below 50 degrees. ( I put a digital thermometer inside to double check the temps). Bought at Walmart but now the store doesn't have a replacement. any ideas for a quick fix? Thinking of doing a 24 shutdown and restart to see if that helps

If it is out of warranty..... Take it to a football field, and see if you can make three points through the goal posts.... Sorry, wish I had a better solution. They just are too inexpensive to warranty $80/hour work plus parts on them.

does it run? does the compressor run, does the fan run, is the air flowing across the outside radiator, is the air comiing out warm? is there a waterpump and does it run? Does anything get cold and does anything get hot?, it should be. These are my suggestions to look for in your unit

Igloo chest freezer 7.2 cubic ft seems running all the time?
It may be on "superfreeze", if there is a yellow light, or it may be set for too low a temperature (try setting the thermostat down to 1 or 2). Check the condenser is clean, and fan working if it has a fan, Check lid is closing properly and the ambient temperature isn't too high.. Lastly, if all else working correctly, suspect short of refrigerant.

Strong Odor when running
The smell is coming from the condenser heating up which should be located all around the outside of the box. When it is in pull down from being warm the condenser will get very hot and the smell would be the spray foam and any other chemicals in the vicinity heating up. When heated up to a certain point they will off gas and you may get a smell. After a little wile the smell should go away for good.

Igloo mini fridge not getting cold
The compressor may be frozen. Turn off the fridge for 6-8 hours, then turn it back on. Don't turn the temp to the coldest setting. If it will still not get cold, the compressor is probably bad.

The ice from my ice maker has a chemical taste...how do I get rid of it?
Run about 3 cycles of vinegar; then rinse with water. Run regular water through and then the ice should lose the chemical smell and taste.

Evap fans will not run what are the two sinsors ?
First, the freezer coils have a temperature sensor strapped to it with a copper band.
The fans won't come on until the coil is under 10 degrees. Second, the fans won't come on if the doors are open. The same switch that shuts off the insdie light also turns off the fans. Try those two items. If the coils never get cold enough the fans simplhy won't come on at all. You may have low refrigerant or the other coils out by the compresor may be clogged with dust or grease.

The larger pipe on compressor should get cold. The smaller should get warm to very hot depending on ambient conditions. Parts should be available, including a universal relay kit I could hook you up with. First determine if the compressor is running. Let me know. :)

What do I do?
There is a thermostat control but your problem sounds like a system that is low on refrigerant charge. If it cools down to 55°F the compressor is working. If the system is low on refrigerant it has a leak which must be found and repaired before it is operated.
