Look inside the tank. Some units have a stone inside that blocks the fuel line when it is tipped a certain way. Might be what's happening here.

Usually a sign of a carb problem, lack of fuel being the most common.
Carb may have dirt in it.

You probably have a bad hose or a bad hose connection that is sucking mostly air instead of delivering full fuel to the carburetor!

The gas line with the weighted fuel filter on it should lay across the bottom of it (somewhere near the opposite side) and the purge/return line only needs to enter the fuel tank 1/2" to3/4" to work.

Check the air filter isn't dirty.
If the machine runs ok on high speed but cuts out while idling, the idle speed may be too low. There is usually an adustment screw for increasing the speed.
If the fuel line is a flexible type which moves around inside the tank, check it is able to move freely because if you are cutting at awkward angles, the end of the line can end end up above the surface of the fuel, **** in air and airlock the line. You can eliminate this as the problem by fully filling the tank.
Check whether there is a one way check valve on the tank. This vents air into the tank as the fuel leaves for the carburettor. Sometimes particles of dirt can get stuck in this.

Sounds like your fuel lines have broken or hardened and aren't reaching the fuel when the level falls. Replace both (or 3) fuel lines (one at a time) and don't forget to put the pickup filter back on. You can get the lines at your local mower repair shop for less than $5 for the 2 foot of line that it takes to replace all lines.

The second fuel line should go from the fuel tank to your carburetor...

Air fuel mixture problem,,,you need to have the filter pulled out and cleaned. Check fuel system for debris and clean, that includes all the fuel lines and possibly disassemble carb and clean and reassemble.

Nothing will do this...what is most likely the problem is either the recoil is going bad or you have the wrong spark plug installed.
